i watched district 9 last night and was really underwhelmed. the cgi was solid, but was completely annoyed by Wickes or whatever his name was.

Over the holiday weekend, I watched Star Trek and G.I. Joe.

over break I watched

Terminator: Salvation: was a little worried going into it, but I ended up really liking it.
Angel Heart: pretty crazy, liked it
Grandmas Boy: hilar
Inglorious Basterds: saw it in theaters but liked it better 2nd time around
District 9: very refreshing getting a different movie every now and then, thought it was incredible.

when his hand changed and he grabbed the gun, it reminded me a lot of Evil Dead when he got the chainsaw, it was exciting!

Julie & Julia: very good, my wife liked the book much better (apparently they didn't focus enough on Julie in the movie)
Australia: Days of thunder is the only movie I can remember liking Nicole Kidman in, but she did a good job in this and I enjoyed the movie

There are several movies I am very interested in for 2010.

Edge of Darkness: Very excited to see Mel Gibson's return to the silver screen in a lead role. And in an action role no less. I really hope this turns out well.

Legion: I still have no idea what to think of this movie. Rather than take the knee-jerk "It's anti-Christian" approach, I will give it a watch. If nothing else, but for the absolutely horrifying "angels"

The Book of Eli: I am a huge fan of post-apocalyptic movies, and Denzel Washington is always solid. Anything that resembles Fallout 3 is a in my book

Extraordinary Measures: Not sure about this one, but I will at least get it on Netflix. Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser...interesting combo.

The Graves: Looks like a quirky and interesting horror movie, and Jillian Murray is soooo hot

I watched the Wrestler with Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei and thought it was excellent. It's a very psychological movie. Rourke played the broken down man to perfection. You can hear him breathe and moan throughout the whole movie like he is in constant pain from all the fighting he's done. The comradeship between wrestlers is displayed as well. I don't know who directed it, but the overall mood of the movie was captured really well. I felt sorry for the main character.

Again, big respect to Rourke for the acting.

I agree. It's a great movie. It was directed by Darren Aronofsky, the same fellow who did Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain. As a wrestling fan, I really dug how they used real independent wrestling promotions and even shot the Combat Zone Wrestling match at the old ECW Arena.

Yeah. Aronofsky is great. I was impressed with both Rourke and Tomei. I kept waiting for Ellen Burstyn to pop out somewhere, haha. I also watched the movie kind of quietly w/ the wife sleeping so I didn't notice the score that much, which is the first time that I can say that about an Aronofsky movie.

I thought The Road was great. A little depressing to watch, especially this time of year, but still awesome.

I am still unsettled on my thoughts on the Road. Not necessarily because it was depressing (I thought it was very depressing), but, I think I was rather unprepared

I loved Samurai,could you imagine seeing those warriors all armoured up coming through the forest, intimidating to say the least.

Family sick day yesterday = viewings of Cloudy with a chance of meatballs and TRON. Cloudy was hilarious and if UP wasn't so good it would have my vote for animated of the year. I can't believe I've never sat down and watched TRON from start to finish, naturally I loved it and can't wait to see the new one later this year. I think I always saw it on TV and thought boy are those graphics cheesey, this has to be terrible, but it was awesome.

Just watched Public Enemies..........FANTASTIC (and I cannot stress it enough) film about the life and death of John Dillinger. Depp was excellent, and Bale was in prime form as Melvin Purvis. Best movie I have seen in a while....

I'll put my vote in for The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus as well. Pretty strange movie -- you'll like it better if you don't try to figure everything out as it happens, instead just watching the events unfold and thinking about everything afterwards.
