Where my fellow cooks at???
I want to cook something new this weekend. I could always just hop on the internet and find something but i was seeing if anyone had any good recipes. I like pretty much any food out there, but i'll be cooking for my girl too.
Her Likes:
Spicy
Chicken
Veggies (pretty much any veggie)
i know that seems pretty broad, but does anyone have a great recipe that you really like?
if not i'll just go to my old stand bye... jambalaya.

i just got a nice wok for christmas coupled with a rice cooker. i love making up a mean rice with different veggies and stir frying it up with some soy sauce.. then i grill some chicken and use IRON CHEF General Tso glaze and smother the chicken in that. o MAN is it good.

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
btw, my meatloaf is amazing. 2 eggs, packet of lipton onion soup, 1/2 cup ketchup, some bread crumbs, meat, water, salt pepper, little other things if u want.. i think thats all,, but once u mix it all up spread half of the ketchup over top of the meatloaf. it gives it a crust and holds all the juices in. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
you could do chicken breasts, with some stove top stuffing and cream of mushroom/chicken cambells soup and bake it for about 20-30 min.
i also do chicken breasts, dipped in mayo, rolled in bread crumbs. prob not the healthiest idea but they're good.

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
I coworker sent me a simple reciepie call Mexican Soup. She said it was good.
1 can chicken borth
1 can refried beans
1 can black beans (drain)
1 can corn (brain)
1 can salsa
I have not tried it yet. It sounds interesting though. You could make it spicier by using medium or hot salsa.

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
i make mexican lasagna.. its bomb-diggity
instead of the lasagna noodles, use burrito shells, line the bottom shells with refried beans, then add your meat/cheeses/salsa etc... then a top shell.. then you top it with all your cheeses and toppings then bake it..
when its done you can add sour cream, salsa and its Delicious

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
mexican lasagna = awesome.
I haven't made it with beans, but I usually cooked up some ground beef with taco seasoning (I like Old El Paso, but whatevs), made a simple cheese sauce with colby jack and then layered tortillas, beef and the cheese sauce... topped with shredded colby jack... serve w/ sour cream.

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
has anyone else ever tried turkey ground meat instead of beef ground meat?
i tried for the first time a few months ago and it was really good. It isnt nearly as greasy as beef and takes half the time to cook. I mixed it with my chili and it was phenomenal.

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
it depends what you use it for. it doesn't compare to beef in a burger, IMO. I wouldn't use it in a meatloaf, either(2pts beef, 1pt pork, 1pt veal). i've used ground turkey for tacos. it's probably fine for chili, too...i don't know. personal preferance, probably.conforto45 wrote:has anyone else ever tried turkey ground meat instead of beef ground meat?

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
Your can use ground turkey to replace beef when mixed with other items, but not when it is the primary ingredient. As "Froggy" said you can't replace a good burger.

sounds good. do you bake it? or just layer it up and it's ready to go after you melt the cheese for a few minutes?the wicked child wrote:mexican lasagna = awesome.

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
if you want to go something other than Mexican, which her likes easily lend to, try a curry. You can get a pre-made curry sauce at the store (likely) and just cook the chicken and veggies in it. Add some rice. Get some nan (not to be confused with NAN) bread at the store as well.
If you want to be more adventurous, you could make your own curry sauce.

Re: Where my fellow cooks at???
This. I usually bake it 25 mins or so... however long it takes to get heated through. As I learned the hard way though... cook with a sheet pan underneath in case there are overflows.conforto45 wrote:bake it... im sure its good as is, but baking it brings all the flavors togethermac5155 wrote:sounds good. do you bake it? or just layer it up and it's ready to go after you melt the cheese for a few minutes?
