Re: 93.7 The Fan Now On
Suprisingly, Paul Alexander is great on the morning show. I really can't stand Ron Cook, and think Vinnie would be better without him.

I dont really like him either. It seems like he needs a co-host. He was better when he was talking with the girl last night.Malkamaniac wrote:slappybrown wrote:The guy on from 6 to 10 -- if its the same guy I heard on Tuesday -- is awful.Point Breeze Penguins wrote:Ok this guy at night is wearing on me a little.
However the guy from 6pm-10pm is phenomenal and the 2pm-6pm and 6am-10am is light years better than what is available on the other channels.
He comes off as trying to be edgy. It's really strange. I don't like him either.

Yeah I actually like Paul Alexander on the show. I don't like him on FSN and didn't like him on the Nightly sports call on KDKA or whatever, but he fits in better here imo.viva la ben wrote:Suprisingly, Paul Alexander is great on the morning show.

I dislike the skits greatly. The ask JB and all of that. Just blah. Stick to the sports, let DVE be DVE

I'm glad I haven't heard the skits yet, I apparently (and thankfully) must get to work before they start them.Malkamaniac wrote:I dislike the skits greatly. The ask JB and all of that. Just blah. Stick to the sports, let DVE be DVE

This ask JB skit took place right around 8:15. I remember because I sitting in my car, acting like wtf, just talk about sports.beerman wrote:I'm glad I haven't heard the skits yet, I apparently (and thankfully) must get to work before they start them.Malkamaniac wrote:I dislike the skits greatly. i was wrong about the success of the station. i thought i would never listen to it and now i find myself tuning in all the time. i enjoy greg giannotti and andrew filliponi in evening and at nights. ABC is solid in the morning. vinnie and cook are still pretty meh tho.

However, I guess overall, their rating haven't been that great. Hopefully they improve. I enjoy having sports talk related to Pgh at all times of the day on FM at my disposal.

Re: 93.7 The Fan Now On
93.7 is kind of annoying. They are talking suckos way too much, probably to get the rights to that terrible team. I do like the guy that is on at like 7 pm. He talks more hockey. Ron Cook is like a king yinzer so he can eff off. Vinnie hasn't figured out that no one in pittsburgh cares about MLB. If you predict that the pirates are going to have a good season, your credibility goes to 0% automatically. That is like predicting that the Jews and Arabs will get along this year.

Well if they were trying to get the rights then talking about Nutting being the Anti-Christ 24 hours per day probably is not helping their cause.

Re: 93.7 The Fan Now On
I lean heavily on the fan during evenings in which there are no live sporting events i.e. buccos or pens.
I dont mind gianatti, but both he and filliponi discuss too many silly topics i.e. what is the dumbest rule in sports? whos the biggest jag in sports? and other various things. i suppose everyone has discussed the current events enough that by 6:00, the producers want something different.
The morning show is pretty good. Burton does excellent impersonations.

Fan in the morning, nothing else to listen to really.
In the afternoon...it really just depends on the commercials. i would listen to madden more, but xmusic is horrible and i swear, everytime i turn it on there's commercials.
970 doesnt really exist anymore as far as i can tell.

I tried to go back to DVE the other day, and it was still yet the same old stuff.Troy Loney wrote:Fan in the morning, nothing else to listen to really.

Re: 93.7 The Fan Now On
ABC is the morning is OK. I am still a DVE guy for the most part. I will switch over to ABC when DVE is talking American Idol or about some 80's hair band drummer that I could care less about.
I hate Ron Cook, so I havent listened to a minute of Vinnie and Cook
Seibel and Starkey are good. I really enjoy them. I flip between them and Madden.
I cannot stand Giannotti or Andrew Filliponi. Fillipoini is a huge Pitt basher. Giannotti has no idea what he is talking about. I heard him say over the weekend that any time the Steelers take a LB in the draft, it turns to gold. Um, ever heard of Alonzo Jackson or Bruce Davis, Greg? The funny part was that during the next segment, he corrected himself and brought up Davis and Jackson. Someone must have pointed that out to him during the break, lol.

I just want to point out how great it is that cowherd is off the air. i turned on his stupid show for like 3 minutes yesterday and he ripped hockey. **** yourself cowherd.
also, the 1250 extra point was about nascar this morning. it was from chris mack and it was stupid, if 1250 is trying to introduce nascar talk on to the station i'll easily abandon 1250 forever.

Re: 93.7 The Fan Now On
I give Vinnie a pass since he's the new guy in town; in fact the optimism is somewhat amusing knowing that sooner or later that crash into the reality of the situation is going to happen.AlexPKeaton wrote:Vinnie hasn't figured out that no one in pittsburgh cares about MLB. Hmm...maybe we should do an LGP pool on the calendar day on which it finally happens

Re: 93.7 The Fan Now On
I enjoy the Morning show with Alexander/Burton/Colony.
I also enjoy Starkey and Seibel.
Chris Mueller who I usually catch the last 45 minutes or so when I start my commute at 5:15am also isn't too bad.
I honestly haven't listen to Madden for a while, Starkey and Seibel cover me my whole drive home.

So I didn't get out of work till after 10 today (crunch time SUCKS), but the guy on at 10 is pretty good. Talked about nothing except the Habs-Caps game.
