In one inning of work against Canada he walked 3 batters and struck out 3, sounds about right.
Mexico crushing Canada 9-1 which means Team USA will advance into the second round of pool play with a win over South Africa in spite of their loss to Canada.
Oliver Perez in mid season form at the WBC...

Re: Oliver Perez in mid season form at the WBC...
Please tell me that Perez has fungus growing on his shower shoes. I was hoping Canada would move on, if only for the chance of Bay having a monster game and the baseball world actually noticing him. I mean, I wouldn't expect Baseball Tonight to mention him, in between Yankees and Red Sox profiles of their garbage-time relievers.Goalie wrote:In one inning of work against Canada he walked 3 batters and struck out 3, sounds about right.

I'm terrified of the idea of Roger Clemens in a must-win game, even if they're only playing South Africa. Any team with Clemens, Griffey Jr. and A-Rod is destined to disappoint in the clutch. I have Mark Texeira on a fantasy team, and right now he's scaring the crap out of me. It's like he's trying to get me to panic trade him.
Meanwhile, the Dominican team is unbeaten...and they'll be getting Vlad Guerrero for the 2nd round. Yikes. If Pedro were healthy, they'd be even scarier (assuming they could convince one of their pitchers to be "injured").

What are the odds that Clemens throws at someone tommorow? He no doubt will attempt to establish some sort of dominance in the early going and probably cause an international incident in the process.
When I saw that A-Rod had singled in the bottom of the 9th last night I thought that possibly he had achieved his first clutch hit ever but then I saw that the center fielder actually just dropped a ball that while he had to dive for was not that hard of a play and would have been a simple fly out with a big leage center fielder out there.
I have a feeling Jason Bay will get his attention this season, he is going to represent the Pirates in the All Star Game and if there is justice he will start and get to throw Tony Larussa in the river from the right field bleachers before the game.
I just read where Vlad came out and said he will not be joining the team for the second round then again I am not sure it will make for any different outcome in their games as that lineup is scary good.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9665308/ about halfway down the page. It's not a pretty picture of Clemens in post-season games. Hopefully he won't injure himself at the pre-game meal. What are the odds that Clemens throws at someone tommorow? I was fully expecting a 2-hopper right to the shortstop. Of course, in typical Rangers fashion, Texeira failed to make Canada pay. Apparently he can only hit in Arlington.
This year the NL manager will be Phil Garner, who is a tad less petty than LaRussa. He's also managing a better team, as the Cards look like they're going to back-slide this year. Hopefully, this means more goofiness from Tony. Maybe he'll put Pujols 9th to protect his leadoff hitter in the late innings.I have a feeling Jason Bay will get his attention this season, he is going to represent the Pirates in the All Star Game and if there is justice he will start and get to throw Tony Larussa in the river from the right field bleachers before the game.
I just read that article where he denied the reports of his return. Part of me still thinks he'll come back. Even if he doesn't come back, they don't really need him. While their OF isn't great, their IF hits well enough that it doesn't matter.I just read where Vlad came out and said he will not be joining the team for the second round then again I am not sure it will make for any different outcome in their games as that lineup is scary good.
