Are Toronto shows still some of the biggest unofficial nights on RAW? i remember toronto shows and the show right after wrestlemania being some of the best.

I used to love shows in Canada when Bret was a heel with the new Hart Foundation. Hated in the US and loved in Canada made for a really interesting dynamic. I expect the crowd to go nuts for Bret, and for him to win the US Championship, freeing up the Miz to feud with Brian Danielson.

Totally agree. I think we're going to see Brian Danielson cost The Miz tonight, then Bret relinquish the belt and they'll have a mini-tournament or something that will probably see John Morrison win since he just got drafted to Raw.nocera wrote:I used to love shows in Canada when Bret was a heel with the new Hart Foundation. Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
A tournament would certainly put some focus back on the belt. Look at what it did for the Intercontinental title when Drew whatshisface was stripped of it and Smackdown had a mini-tourney. All of a sudden the belt looked important as wrestlers were battling for a chance to win it. I really liked that angle and now instead of a boring Kofi vs. Drew whatshisface match, there's a story behind it. Like I said a while ago, the only thing that needs to happen to make these mid-card titles seem important is for the wrestlers and announcers to treat them as such. Think of how many promos you've heard in the last year where a wrestler actually sets his goal on winning the US or IC belt. It's so frustratingly simple.steve784 wrote:Totally agree. To be fair, I think Drew McIntyre is awesome. I think he's really nearing main-event readiness.nocera wrote:A tournament would certainly put some focus back on the belt. This is why William Regal needs a rapper gimmick where he freestyles every week.

Gotta say Raw has been fantastic tonight so far. Edge/Christian was the best wrestling match on Raw in a long, long time.

Christian/Edge was very good, especially for a TV match.

Get Aldrin out of there........this is embarassing. When will WWE realize how stupid this is. "How about Randy and Jack.........on the mat. Does it get better than that?"

Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
That was a really great first 30-40 minutes. Bret and Jericho, Edge vs. Christian, and an Undertaker appearance. The crowd was super into it until after the Bret/Miz match. It seemed like they got what they came for and after that they were pretty much dead. They seemed to wake up a bit for Cena but it seemed like the first 30 minutes with all the Canadian stars really took a lot out of them.
I'm surprised Brian Danielson didn't make an appearance but it made sense to further the angle with JeriMiz/Hart Dynasty for the PPV.
Here's an idea for something that'll likely never happen: Bret becomes the RAW GM next week, with his first order of business being forfeiting the title and setting up a tournament for the vacated belt.

I watched the Memorial Cup game and saw parts of Raw. The Buzz Aldrin promo was absolutely awful and I did not like Bret Hart winning the belt last night as well. I missed the first hour though.

Wow, I just flipped over to see what was happening on NXT and Bryan Danielson just cut a sick promo followed by calling out Michael Cole for always saying stuff about him. He then proceeded to assault Michael Cole and call him a "poor man's replacement for Jim Ross". Bryan Danielson has just become my favorite wrestler. For how badly he was seemingly booked on NXT, it all just paid off right there.........awesome job.

Bryan Danielson = the awesome.

Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
Yeah, that was awesome. I wish he'd settle on a name though. He called himself Bryan Danielson last week and he's back to answering to Daniel Bryan this week. Admittedly, that's pretty petty, but still confusing, especially for the majority of the WWE fans who don't know he went by Bryan Danielson before he was on NXT. That Cole confrontation was the first thing that felt "real" on WWE in a long time. I hope it doesn't end up in a match, though.
Did anybody else think of Garth when Josh Matthews was left on his own? "I'm having a good time ... not."
Also, another RAW GM guess. If it's not Bret, I'd go with good ol JR. Not sure that would happen as it's pretty well known that WWE isn't interested in having JR on TV again, but he did mention he was about to take on new professional hours soon in a recent blog.

Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
JR popped into my head too. I'm hoping that isn't the case though, it'd be a waste to have him on TV and not announcing. Haha they should bring JR back to announce and have Michael Cole be GM. Heel GMs are way better anyways.nocera wrote:Also, another RAW GM guess. If it's not Bret, I'd go with good ol JR.
