How would you rank the Pens depth
in their farm teams? Are we on par with the Caps farm teams or Nashville?

Michal Neuvirth
Mathieu Perreault
Preds top 5 prospects: (Org. Rank: 1)
Jon Blum
Colin Wilson
Cody Franson
Chet Pickard
C-O Roussel
Pens top 5 prospects: (Org. Rank: 24)
Eric Tangradi
Simon Despres
Dustin Jeffrey
Brian Strait
Ben Hanowski
"Not even close" is an understatement

Re: How would you rank the Pens depth
Unless our drafting turns around, people are soon going to start calling for Shero's head. He has done an admirable, if unspectacular job in trading and free agency, but everybody knew that we would have to draft well to supplement the big four with cheap, young talent. We're not as screwed cap-wise as Chicago, but we're in a bit of trouble that could have been averted with better drafting.
It's probably got more to do with our scouting staff. I'd say our pro scouting has been fine, as has the Minnesota and Massachusetts scouting done by Chuck Grillo and Kevin Stevens, and whoever our QMJHL scout is. But our European scouts Patrik Allvin and Robert Neuhauser and whoever is in charge of Western Canada should be fired immediately. It's easy to say "Shero has a bias against Europe and ignores Western Canada," but if these scouts are advocating the selection of players like CPZ, Timo Seppanen and Viktor Ekbom, I'd stay away from picking from those areas too.

How could anyone pass on Viktor Ekbom?

Jeffrey must be there for the sole reason that he's pretty well-developed already and had a great year in the AHL, because in terms of potential for highest ceiling among everyone in the Pens' system, there's no way he even sniffs the top 5.

I've found the work of the Pens' writer at HF to be of subpar quality and quizzical for years. LGP's own mikey287, also an HF writer, is a MUCH better writer and talent evaluator, but unfortunately he is assigned to the Dallas Stars, not the Pens.meecrofilm wrote:Jeffrey must be there for the sole reason that he's pretty well-developed already and had a great year in the AHL, because in terms of potential for highest ceiling among everyone in the Pens' system, there's no way he even sniffs the top 5.

I'm pissed if they were never in the MZA race. He would've fitted the Pens so well and they would've fitted him so well. Him becoming my favourite player doesn't help either =)K2 wrote:Unless our drafting turns around, people are soon going to start calling for Shero's head.
