This is, unfortunately, true.Shyster wrote:I live in Ross and I concur that while the McKnight corridor has plenty of restaurants, most of them are generic chains or aren't all that good. There's a distinctive lack of fine dining.

Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
Only in Pittsburgh would people recommend bars when someone asks about restaurants.
The two best restaurants in Pittsburgh for my tastes are the Bigelow Grille and Tusca. I don't have as many opportunities to eat at some of the smaller, out of the way restaurants being that I don't live there any more. There are some that were described here that sound great.
On the subject of bars selling food, to me Big Jims > Fatheads. I leave Fatheads sick at the stomach everytime. Too much grease. I'm not saying it doesn't taste good, it just hits me hard. Their Fried Mushrooms are great, but I can only eat 3 or 4 of them.

If you like crab legs, try Morgans in Penn Hills. All you can eat crab legs plus two sides on Monday and Tuesday night for like 23 bucks. I have no idea if any of their other food is good, but the crab is delicious. They also have all you can eat prime rib and fried shrimp on Wednesdays.

If anyone is brave enough to go to Wilkensburg

This place is not too bad either. It is on Centre Ave near Oakland.

Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
I didn't go scanning through 9 pages to see if this was mentioned or not, but for people in the North Hills area the Franklin Inn is supposed to have kick ass Mexican. I've never been there, so I can't say one way or the other.
http://www.franklininn.net/
One thing I do know about the place is it's notorious for being packed & long waits for seats at dinner time. (Up to an hour)

Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
Iovino cafe in Mt. Lebo is very good. Small place, but fantastic food.
Out in Bethel Park, I like Pasta Too. Simple, traditional Italian place. Good food, massive portions. Expect to wait though.
Up on Mt. Washington, I love Satalio's. Again, simple, good Italian food.
For pizza, I like Fiori's and Napoli's. Napoli's is my favorite, but the distance is a hinderance on occasion.
Bangkok Balcony in Squirrel Hill is my favorite for Thai.

Fiori's and Bankgkok Balcony are two of the worst eateries/restaurants in Pittsburgh. One serves playdough masquerading as pizza, and the other serves MSG molded to look like chicken.BadHands71 wrote:Iovino cafe in Mt. Lebo is very good. Small place, but fantastic food.

I refuse to go to an Italian Restaurant that serves Chicken Parm. For that reason Pasta Too is out. Try il pizzaiolo or dish instead.

Funny Bangkok consistently gets high ratings from reviews. Even on a national stage. Ate there only once, it was Thai food, I liked it. Agree with you about Fiori's, think their pizza is among the worst I've ever had
