I hope you're mocking me for using the word "kayfabe." I felt silly doing it.skullman80 wrote:Yeah that's the kayfabe explanation that was given.nocera wrote:Wasn't the kayfabe explanation for Danielson's disappearance that the Nexus kicked him out for basically feeling bad about what they did to Cena?Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:As for the Nexus match, what is the explanation for Daniel Bryan hating Nexus? Thank you. I had it coming.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go watch RoH DVDs and daydream about Jim Crockett.

The RVD/Sabu, Dreamer/Raven, and 2 Cold Scorpio/his opponent? were 3 solid matches on the Hardcore Justice PPV while there was 1 really solid match at Summerslam thus making Hardcore Justice the better PPV.

I loved the RVD/Sabu feud in the late 90's on ECW.Old Time Hockey wrote:The RVD/Sabu, Dreamer/Raven, and 2 Cold Scorpio/his opponent? were 3 solid matches on the Hardcore Justice PPV while there was 1 really solid match at Summerslam thus making Hardcore Justice the better PPV.

Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
Dreamer/Raven.. I hated. That's more because it had none of the intensity that there feud 15 y ears ago did. It just did nothing for me. Sabu/RVD was not the botchfest I thought it was going to be, but nothing great. 2 Cold Scorpio/CW Anderson(I think that's who it was).. was a very good match.Old Time Hockey wrote:The RVD/Sabu, Dreamer/Raven, and 2 Cold Scorpio/his opponent? were 3 solid matches on the Hardcore Justice PPV while there was 1 really solid match at Summerslam thus making Hardcore Justice the better PPV.
I still take the main event at Summerslam though, because it was just an awesomely booked main event, minus the ending... and now I don't hate it as much as I did last night. I just thought it was perfectly booked and worked well, and the crowd was hot throughout, and that match alone made it more enjoyable to me than the Hardcore Justice PPV.

The crowd was dead all last night except for the main event. The crowd definitely did get into the main event though.

Los Angeles crowds are usually dead on the inside so it makes sense.Old Time Hockey wrote:The crowd was dead all last night except for the main event. The crowd definitely did get into the main event though.

unfunny is an understatement.
I get that they're trying to tone down the WWE and make it PG13, but Cena's promos are beyond awful.

I was referring to the main event as far as the hot crowd goes.Old Time Hockey wrote:The crowd was dead all last night except for the main event. The crowd definitely did get into the main event though.
... and props to Jericho for doing the job to Barrett. Jericho never minds putting someone over.

Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
Cena's cocky guy trying to be a comedian pomos aee the worst. He is never funny and if something he says is funny, he f's up the timing or delivery of it. Stone Cold could do it, Michaels and HHH pull it off and the Rock. But Cena just is not funny and he should stop trying to be

Cena wasn't half bad at promos back when he first started and he did stuff that was at least edgy with his character, it was passable. Now he's neutered and his stuff comes off as corny and forced.

Monday Night Raw was awful! It had the potential to be good, but the content was terrible. How the Nexus got over was a joke and it was so predictable.

Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
Meh. Did anyone really expect Cena to lose? Something tells me Darren Young will be relegated to babyface jobber status shortly.
And what was with the Going the Distance crap? Is Great Khali used for nothing but humorous sketches anymore (not that he can wrestle, but you get my point). Of course, I hate the one guy with a passion simply because of the Mac vs. PC commercials.

The only way they could have made that segment better was if they brought the PC guy out to give the Mac kid The Razor's Edge through a table.shafnutz05 wrote:Is Great Khali used for nothing but humorous sketches anymore (not that he can wrestle, but you get my point). Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
RAW was really bad. Nexus' strength is not individual matches. Most of them are still very green and a lot of the finishes were very lame because of the stipulation. Slater, Gabriel and to a lesser extent, Tarver ended up looking even weaker after RAW than after Summerslam.
In my mind, RAW is in trouble. I couldn't care less about Orton/Sheamus, Nexus still lacks direction and motivation, and Cena is beyond stale. The only thing that I'm interested in right now is The Miz, Money in the Bank, and Daniel Bryan. Smackdown is looking pretty weak as of now too. There is nothing exciting about Kane/Undertaker, and CM Punk and the SES are being completely wasted with this Big Show feud.

Re: The Pro Wrestling Thread
I miss the early concept for RAW.

Oddly, I also miss jobbers. It made it way easier to establish new superstars, and it made PPV or the occasional star vs. star match seem far more important. I'm aware that another early concept for RAW was that most matches wouldn't have jobbers and that's what set it apart from, say, Superstars or All American Wrestling. This footage just made me think of the old days. I sincerely doubt WWE will ever return to jobbers full time, and I don't know if I really want them to, but jobbers did make things much easier.
