Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I bought a variety 12 pack of Penn Brewing Co 'gourmet' beers. Allegheny Pale Ale, Penn Dark lager, St Nicklaus Bock and Penn Pilsner. I had high hopes for these 'cause I'd love to be able to support a local brewery, but the beer has to stand out.
Being a lover a a good IPA I opened the Pale Ale first. Meh. It was drinkable but it's not gonna unseat my favorites, Stone Brewery's IPA and Dogfish Head 60 Minute. Didn't have that smooth bitterness and was kinda flat. Had kind of a sour taste.
The Penn Dark lager was next. I finished about half a glass and poured it down the drain. Totally flat (noticing a trend here...) and just not what I'm looking for in a beer.
Stay tuned for the other two.

Any Corsendonk is fantastic.Kraftster wrote:Coworker just gave me a 750 ml bottle of Corsendonk Pater. I am really looking forward to giving it a try -- good reviews and seems to be right in the range of beers that I really enjoy.

Got my hands on a bottle of Sam Adams Infinium. Was pretty excited since only 60 were sent to West Virginia.

First sip of this beer I thought it was vile. By the bottom of the glass I was in love. I've loved every bottle since.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I have a recommendation for a store: Vintage Estate Wine and Beer. It’s a bottle shop and taproom in Boardman, Ohio. I have relatives in Youngstown and I make sure to stop at V.E. whenever I’m in town to visit. It’s an easy drive; it’s right off 680, which itself is the first exit off the Ohio Turnpike. V.E. has a huge beer selection, and it includes dozens of brews that I’ve never seen in Pennsylvania (one example: Hitachino Nest beer from Japan). If you are anywhere near Youngstown/Boardman, or you want to take a weekend driving excursion, I recommend you check this place out.

Thanks for sharing this Shyster, I'll definitely give it a look on my next trip through Ohio. I wish they carried Sierra Nevada.Shyster wrote:I have a recommendation for a store: Vintage Estate Wine and Beer.

Don't "this" often (well, except when I write Java classeslegame wrote:Nugget Nectar comes out soon. Gonna rage.

Bell's Hopslam also comes out soon, and at least in my opinion is one of the most ridiculously overpriced cases out there at $64.99 or so (and considering that distributors have to put a purchase limit on it, by extension it would be also one of the most overhyped). Nugget Nectar has always been less than $40 a case; by the time you buy a case of Hopslam, you could have almost 2 cases of the Nectar.

That store looks great. I want to find Xingu Black Beer. If they have that, I will be there.
