Just finished: Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live

how did you like it? I've had this sitting at my house for years now...

I liked it. They basically just put together a bunch of interviews. It didnt seem as long as it was because its just a bunch of quotes pieced together for chronological order. They interviewed just about everybody thats alive except Eddie Murphy. It was pretty interesting to read about the origins of the show and the behind the scenes stuff.

Just started reading Stephen Coonts, first book in the Tommy Carmellini series. Definitely a different writing style, but I like it so far.

i really enjoyed the first half of this but for some reason never finished it. i guess it's worth finishing.

has anyone read the smartest guys in the room? we are looking at some of the sarbanes-oxley issues and i think reading about enron more could be interesting

i was getting ready to buy it before christmas and i received don berwick's escape fire, covey's speed of trust, and studer's hardwiring excellence as presents (books for christmas!!?) so smartest guys in the room got bumped down the queue

kenny the kangaroo is re-reading the smartest guys in the room (originally read circa 2008). It shouldn't teach you too much about Sarbanes oxley, but it will teach you to try to not be a total jagoff. Lots of jags at enron.

edit: there is also a documentary out called the smartest guys in the room. perhaps that would be easier than a couple hundred page book?!~?!

Awesome book. Also really enjoyed The Problem of Pain. I group Lewis in with Krishnamurti and Thich Nhat Hanh as the authors most influential on my meditative/philosophical reasoning. I nearly mentioned him a few posts ago.

I'm really enjoying it. My wife and I are reading it out loud to each other so I think it adds something to it. There are some things the demon suggests his nephew do that I have seen happen in my life. Eerily real in some parts.

my friend and i have tried that at times. it seems like such an interesting thing to do but i've never had the patience for it in the long run. way cool as dave ramsey would say.

1/4 through the last book i bought and i think it's a bust. but i think i'm finally freeing myself to just let it go and move on to another one without trying to trudge through it. when i'm reading a good book, i'll read all the time. so i just bought four at B&N with all the gift cards i had.

they only had a few krishnamurti's and i ended up with Life Ahead which studies learning (my favorite mental aspect) and meaning. thanks for the inspiration, gonch.

also, The Lost City of Z and The Zanzibar Chest.

also found an autobiography of a yogi which may be dry (judging from the first few pages) but may be fascinating.

Ok it's not really a novel and it'll take you about a half hour to reach the end of each one, but read the "Letters from a nut" series by Ted L. Nancy. Amazing stuff.
