I'd take Jagr in a heartbeat for vet minimum like he said he'd take back when he was signed with Omsk for mega millions.tonysoprano wrote:This particular fading star was old three years ago.Malkamaniac wrote:Well, you kind of should expect that now with the way the team is set up. Yeah. The Mike Comrie contract. With similar results. It made sense with Sid and Geno being out, to take a poke at Kovalev. All things being equal, with those two healthy, I'm not interested in this malcontent being in my locker room.Malkamaniac wrote:I'd take Jagr in a heartbeat for vet minimum like he said he'd take back when he was signed with Omsk for mega millions.tonysoprano wrote:This particular fading star was old three years ago.Malkamaniac wrote:Well, you kind of should expect that now with the way the team is set up. He'd be perfect to make a triumphant return to the Capitals - I think that'd help us more - like delivering a Trojan horse.

I think Jagr would have flash backs of the last Olympics if he played with Ovi.

Just go all Rambo on their locker room - I see where your head's at - that's good stuff.Malkamaniac wrote:I think Jagr would have flash backs of the last Olympics if he played with Ovi.

Wow, Jags is 39 now? I would flip him the league minimum but not a dime more. If he sucks, Recchi him... if he plays good, good for all involved.
Low risk high reward I say.

As tony said the locker room is the kicker here.. Don't see shero taking that risk even at league min.. I'd venture to say our locker room is the strongest in the league and shero won't risk it

I'd much rather have Nick Johnson at RW.

Has anyone seen him play recently? Just wondering if he is a Recchi or a Kovy

Last I heard his coach tried to fight him as they were getting bounced out of the play-offs in the KHL.Staggy wrote:Has anyone seen him play recently? Just wondering if he is a Recchi or a Kovy

Let's get him for a 7th rounder. I hear that's great value.

Would be groundbreaking to have a KHL team drafting in the NHL's 7th round.Three Stars wrote:Let's get him for a 7th rounder. I hear that's great value.

(that said, could do worse. If he's somewhere in between Roberts and Guerin, both in salary and performance, for 1 year, I think I could live with that)

The Pens employed Goddard this season, they could throw that same money at Jagr for godness sake. Even if Jagr is a bust he'll still be more useful.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
I thought he was the Rangers best player in the 08 playoffs, he really took a strong leadership role and appeared gutted when they were eliminated. He was a force on the ice and didn't have anything like the talent available here now, BUT that was 3 years ago...
I would LOVE to see him in a Pens jersey for league min, though I struggle to pick him over a dependable, penalty killing Talbot/Dupuis etc

He looked like he could still play at the NHL level in the Olympics. Performance incentives count on the FOLLOWING years cap.

Trade Neal for picks, resign Kovalev, and sign Jagr at league minimum. Cup.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
The Kovalev comparisons are silly. Kovalev was never the best player in the league, never won a scoring title and never carried a team. Jagr has done all of these things. He's one of the best of all time. I would take a talent like that any day.
