"On tomorrow" and other grammatical oddities. I dated a girl who was celebrating her 21st "birfday". I cringed every single time she said it.

i forgot about this one. Mostly cause anymore I insist on making a ton of noise.LeopardLetang wrote:this is fairly irrational. i can't eat when i notice i can hear someone next to me chewing their food. obviously the more sloshing and smacking the more i have a problem with it. it turns my stomach. and sometimes, even if i'm not eating, i have to walk away from someone that is. one lady stands over my shoulder when i'm at the computer quaintly working her candy bar in her wet mouth while we're working on something. i end up being forced to stand up and act like i have something else to do until she's done.

Since summer is almost upon us, it's about time for the annual inundation of one of my biggest pet peeves...... people who say 'barbeque' when they mean 'grill'.
EDIT: And no sooner do I post this than I hit my Facebook page and see a buddy of mine's status update is: "Love the smell of BBQ in the afternoon". He does not own a smoker......

Clippings? That's why I bought a mulching mower. I don't see no stinkin' clippings.Corvidae wrote:I looooathe raking. I just leave the clippings there and have a refreshing Dr. Pepper.

That might work with mine if my mower deck didn't have a huge hole in it that hemorrhages clippings vertically. My yard is small enough, though, that it isn't worth getting a new mower at this point. I just deal with the clippings.Shyster wrote:Clippings? That's why I bought a mulching mower. I don't see no stinkin' clippings.Corvidae wrote:I looooathe raking. Re: Your irrational pet peeves
Grilling is cooking meat, vegetables, etc. at a moderate to high heat over a direct heat source, such as propane burners or charcoal. Grilling usually cooks food in minutes--for example, 10 minutes or less for a steak. Barbecuing is cooking meat at a low heat (usually no more than around 225 degrees) for a long period of time, and always in the presence of smoke. Barbecuing cooks food in hours. For example, a whole pork shoulder might take something in the neighborhood of six to eight hours or more. The heat sources can vary for barbecuing (wood, charcoal, electric heaters), but wood smoke must be present.Physical_Graffiti wrote:What's the difference between a BBQ and a grill?

Re: Your irrational pet peeves
this past weekend went camping. We drove around the entire camp site, picked one out near the back, secluded, in the woods, big space. However a multi family with 6 young kids came and set up camp. They didnt shut the hell up all night. Kids probably 8 years old trying to catch baseball, and 1 actually hit our car. Kids screaming all evening, parents not controlling them, probably from WV. wasnt a peaceful night. The next night was better since the kids were doing something all day and passed out in the evening.
And then some white ghetto kids the same night blasted rap music so at least 20 other camp sites could here it until 11pm. WTF, who would do this ant not be considerate? and they tied a dog up while they went hiking for a few hours and the dog barked NON stop. poor thing but it added extra annoyance that first night.
