Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Duck Rabbit is usually mediocre. Foothills is a much better NC option, as is Lonerider, Highland, Triangle Brewing, Full Steam, etc. Just my opinion, though.Kraftster wrote:Just made an unbelievable stop in fox chapel on my way back into town. Uncle Sam's for the first time in months and a beer nutz stop that resulted in a case of duck rabbit schwarzbier, which I have never seen but can't wait to try.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I needed a few bottles of hefeweizen for a stew recipe that calls for it, so last night I went to 3 Sons Dogs & Suds, a bottle shop up in Wexford. They have six-packs of Xingu. If I remember right, this is a quick drive from your place.Kraftster wrote:That store looks great. I want to find Xingu Black Beer. If they have that, I will be there.

Yeah, I agree. I especially like Highland. I just got a growler of the Carolina Brewery Oatmeal Porter.... good, not great. Have you tried any of the Pisgah beers?legame wrote:Duck Rabbit is usually mediocre. The Duck Rabbit schwarz is pretty solid.Kraftster wrote:Just made an unbelievable stop in fox chapel on my way back into town. Uncle Sam's for the first time in months and a beer nutz stop that resulted in a case of duck rabbit schwarzbier, which I have never seen but can't wait to try.
Anyone try anything new lately worth checking out this early-spring season?
I kind of just want to get some Killian's tonight, have a hankering for it.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I was in Dallas, TX last week and found a microbrew I quite liked. The brewery is called Franconia Brewing Co. I think they've only been in existence a couple of years. I had their dunkel. It was malty, full-bodied, and good. According to their website, they also have a lager and a wheat beer. I don't know if they ship beer outside of their metropolitan area.

Don't remember if I posted in this thread yet, but Firestone Double Barrel Ale is good, and Xingu (Brazilian black beer) is really good as well. Along with good ol' Stella, that's my holy trinity of beer. And Alaskan Summer is really good as well.

Founders Kentucky breakfast stout. Pricey, but one of the best breakfast/sweet stouts you'll ever have.Kraftster wrote:Kraftster wrote:

What should I drink at Sharp Edge before the amazing concert tonight?
I can't decide what I am in the mood for.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Tried Leinenkugel Berry Weiss tonight. Really like the Summer Wheat, so I gave it a try.
It's a little sweeter than I thought (it's made with loganberries, elderberries and blackberries, and honey). But it's a nice fruity taste, with a wheat undertone.
This would be a very good beer for a hot summer day/evening.

Very tasty.
Has anyone tried any of the oyster stouts around? I bought a bottle Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Island Creek Oyster Stout the other day. I'll probably open it tomorrow night for game 7. The combination of the tastes intrigues me. Has anyone tried this and can you tell me anything about it?

I had one before and didn't like it but not surprising since I don't really care for either oysters or stouts.
I tbink it was Love Stout by... I think Weyerbacher. That doesn't help much I guess. /csb
