Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
I don't think he would suck like Kovy did. But at the same time, if you expect the Jagr of the 90s, he will not be that either. I can see him being a 70-80 pt guy.sluggermatt15 wrote:Yeah this is EXACTLY what I see happening if Jagr returns. He plays like Kovalev did which was NOT well at all. Plus I don't believe Shero would waste cap $ on Jagr when he can re-sign younger guys like Dupuis, Rupp, and Kennedy for longer term deals.Puck Drama wrote:Jägr can come in and take over where Kovalev left off. Total suckage.
That said, perosnally, I'd love to see him come back, but only if it does not mess with the long term plans RS has going forward. If they have to let someone that was in their plans long term walk (ie. Kennedy or Dupuis), just to have Jagr one year, I don't want it to happen. If they have room and were looking to sign a vet for the price they could get Jagr, then do it.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
I would say that's generous. I would expect 50-60 points or thereabouts, maybe a bit more if the power play starts functioning. That's not to say that's a bad 50 points, considering only 2 guys on the roster have the ability to score much more.newarenanow wrote:I don't think he would suck like Kovy did. Jagr would still be a good fit as long as he is being paid like an ageing veteran on a real good team and the most important thing- hes coming back for the correct reasons.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
This pisses me off. Jagr should have signed with the Pens instead of going to Russia 3 years ago. Now its too little, too late.
But I am all for Jagr retiring as a Penguin of course - his jersey belongs in the roof!

It would be worth it to see Teddy Leonsis' expression when he plays against the Caps.

What the furthest the Caps got in the playoffs with Jags? I'm guessing 2nd round because I dont remember them being in the conference finals since they were in the Finals. Man, give up Beech and Lupachuk? and it doesnt even get you an ECF trip

WHOOOOO!

I've been wearing both of mine on and off for the past 2 seasons, and putting Jagr-hating jagoffs in their place when they try to spout 'knowledge' about how he hurt the team more than he helped.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
So if this happens and you are DB, do you give line two net front guy with Tangradi, and develop him, like this:
Kunitz Crosby Neal
Tangradi Malkin Jagr
Cooke Staal Jeffrey
Adams Letestu Craig/Rupp/Vitale
or do you go high octane top two lines
Kunitz Crosby Neal
Malkin Staal Jagr
Cooke Jeffrey Tangradi
Adams Letestu Craig/Rupp/Vitale
When jagr needs a rest you swap up Jeffrey or Tangradi and you a spare center to move up from line four.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
I like the first set of lines better, much more balanced and that will give tangradi his best opportunity to succeed. No one can ever say he didn't get a fair shake if he plays with geno and double j.jwit wrote:So if this happens and you are DB, do you give line two net front guy with Tangradi, and develop him, like this:

Jagr to Pens, 1-year $2 million - make it happen Shero!
Lineup could be
Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Neal - Malkin - Jagr
Cooke - Staal - Kennedy
Rupp - Letestu - Adams
Extra: Johnson
Jeffrey starts year on IR and Tangradi in WBS again.

I agree with the article and I think Pens will regret it for not offering him more when he does very well for DetroitGut feeling: Jagr returns to the NHL. Wearing the Winged Wheel.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
If they sign Jagr, Kennedy is gone. No chance he's back. Then they will sign rupp, dupuis or talbot. Only one of the three will be back. My guess is Dupuis or Rupp. Rupp brings size and toughness, dupuis speed and versatility. Talbot and Kennedy are tweeners.

I'd be pretty SHOCKED if Talbot returns
