Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
The only way Talbot comes back is if he gets no other offers. Somebody will offer him larger dollars. He's canadian, and a game seven hero. There are lots of GM's out there with more dollars than sense. He won't be back.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
I heard the Caps are in love with the idea of Talbot, especially with the looming loss of their locker room guy, Brooks Laich. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Caps offer 3 to 3.5 for 3/4 years.

Hahah, wow I would. McPhee isn't THAT stupid (I don't think).

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
Just to add to the Talbot talk, some teams might HAVE to offer players like him $2.5M-$3M just to get over the cap floor. Might be a lot of overpriced contracts handed out this summer.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
A team on the cusp of winning and wanting to improve the room my take a flyer on Talbot. Maybe Nashville or Columbus. The caps have probably scouted the pens more than anybody else and know better than to invest large dollars in 'the superstar'.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
Max is poor man's Colby Armstrong and will be overpaid just like Colby did (they are both the exact same type of player that get crazy salaries), but it will be less than Colby's 3 mill. I can picture a team being dumb and giving him around 2 mill area

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
Doubt very much he'd offer Max that much. McPhee is very frugal when it comes to contracts/cap hits. He didn't have any control over the Ovechkin one since that was really Ovy/Leonsis ironing that out but he's not going to offer Max that much when he's going to have to pay Carlson, Alzner, and several other young guys in the next few years.npv708 wrote:I heard the Caps are in love with the idea of Talbot, especially with the looming loss of their locker room guy, Brooks Laich. Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
It seems like Pens players who were once a big part of this team always has their value become over-inflated
Armstrong- 3 years - 9 mill
Malone - 7 years - 31.5 mill
Gonchar - 3 years - 16 mill
It is just Max's turn

We play Detroit in the first pre-season game... So I guess we will see Jagr on the ice to start either way?? There will either be cheers, or boo's

This is hardly shocking:
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsbu ... 37547.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; On Jagr, who has talked over the past several days of resuming his NHL career, possibly with his original team: "I don't understand where all this came from," Shero said. "Jagr is not a guy we've spoken about in a couple of years. We talked about him for a little bit after his time with the Rangers (July 2008), but that's about it."

If he wants to be here and he can get Mario/Shero/Bylsma to buy into it...I'd love to have him back...

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
I don't think he WILL sign here, but to think Jagr would sign with a NHL team without ever once talking to the pens is not likely imocolumbia wrote:IanMoran wrote:Article from May 18, the rumors state he talked to the pens this weekend...columbia wrote:This is hardly shocking:

It should be interesting to see what he gets and from whom. He's not going to be cheap, but he's looking at contenders and everyone knows this.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
Not that I'm a fan of bringing him back, but Jagr seems like the perfect player to put on an incentive laden deal, since he qualifies...except than I remember it's Jagr, and there's likely no way he'd do that.

There's absolutely no chance he gets that much cash...from anyone.Bob McKenzie wrote:Doubt very much he'd offer Max that much.npv708 wrote:I heard the Caps are in love with the idea of Talbot, especially with the looming loss of their locker room guy, Brooks Laich.
