Rossi told the X morning show (Yea, I listen, don't hold it against me) that the Jagr situation was heating up and he would be on to talk about it but had a phone call with Petr Svoboda. ROSSI HAS THE INSIDE SCOOP!

I actually believe Rossi. He can't straight up lie and state his source / be completely lying or his job would be in jeopardy. My concern is this agent seems to be doing a TON of talking and no other sources but him. I believe Rossi is hearing all of this, but idk how trustworthy svoboda is (he could just be trying to hype up his client).

The agent has also been talking to Pierre LeBrun, who's been tweeting info as well. Svoboda is being awfully loose-lipped though and to me it still all seems a little fishy. I mean, this is Jagr we're talking about. We'll see what happens.

Jagr wasted 3 years in Russia. It was a shame for both the NHL and himself!

He could have been top 5 all-time in goals and points quite easily.

As a big Jagr fan the day he signed with Omsk was TERRIBLE. He just threw away his legacy in the NHL.

Imagine if Jagr had played in the NHL until he was 43, what kind of career would that be?

When he left the NHL for russia he would have had 7-8 years left.

I am still pissed of by it, I really do not want to think about it.

Its like thinking about Lemieux career without the cancer, heart problems etc.

Kind of an ethnocentric view.... maybe his years in the KHL (and the money he earned) weren't a waste to Jagr (maybe his life isn't defined on where he ends up on the all time NHL points list)

Obviously it was better for Jagr for a couple of reasons - because the society was more like Czech Republic, closer to his parents, closer to his girlfriends parents & studies etc, closer to his work with Kladno etc.

But still, if the Rangers did not have Drury and Gomez signed to MEGA deals, I guarantee Jagr would have still been playing for the Rangers!

This Jagr thing is quite exciting, but I am not too emotionally invested either way. I would like to see him back if he is cheap enough. If we have no problem tossing 500-75k0 for a chance on some of the guys we signed last year, I would think a chance on Jagr is worth around 2 mil. Seems to be the type of risk/reward GMRS goes for.

I disagreed with your original post, but I must admit I have the initial same reaction as to what "could have been" lol. Sometimes it is hard to realize that these guys have lives / decisions that effect their life / family (Easy to view them as pieces on a game of NHL 11').

No, the cap only applies for the regular NHL season, we are not in the season, teams are alowed to be above the cap ceiling or below the cap floor during the offseason, they just have to be within the cap during the regular season.

Lemieux could be all over this or he could sit wishing Jagrs agent would shut his mouth and hope Jagr stays in Russia so he does not have to see him again, who knows?

I'm pretty sure you're correct on the 10% thing... and I'm not quite sure if $64 is in effect NOW or on July 1

Actually you guys are wrong about the 10% thing, the NHL has no rules about salary cap in the offseason, teams are allowed to be over as much as they want or under as much as they want, they have to be under the cap for the start of the regular season, the cap only applies in the regular season.

Jagr was reported to bee seeking a 2 year x 4 million deal with the Rangers back in 2008. Which I think he was worth easily. Sather would only do a 1 year deal and played hardball in the negotiations.

Sather gave Drury and Gomez 7 million per year instead
