The agent has also been talking to Pierre LeBrun, who's been tweeting info as well. Svoboda is being awfully loose-lipped though and to me it still all seems a little fishy. Rob Rossi
@LetsGoPens_8771 still only 25 percent, but that could change if Pens respond. Tough to gauge their interest.

I don't begrudge Jaromir this chance; we'll see. But there is a new pecking order within the room.
It's all very exciting, the decision ~ hockey style.

Very well put sir. I was just thinking from my EGO point of view.IanMoran wrote:Kind of an ethnocentric view.... maybe his years in the KHL (and the money he earned) weren't a waste to Jagr (maybe his life isn't defined on where he ends up on the all time NHL points list)Lesky wrote:Jagr wasted 3 years in Russia. He could have been top 5 all-time in goals and points quite easily.
As a big Jagr fan the day he signed with Omsk was TERRIBLE. He just threw away his legacy in the NHL.
Imagine if Jagr had played in the NHL until he was 43, what kind of career would that be?
When he left the NHL for russia he would have had 7-8 years left.
I am still pissed of by it, I really do not want to think about it.
Its like thinking about Lemieux career without the cancer, heart problems etc.
Obviously it was better for Jagr for a couple of reasons - because the society was more like Czech Republic, closer to his parents, closer to his girlfriends parents & studies etc, closer to his work with Kladno etc.
But still, if the Rangers did not have Drury and Gomez signed to MEGA deals, I guarantee Jagr would have still been playing for the Rangers!

True, but we still have to be under the cap of $59.4 million until July 1st.PolarPenguin wrote:The Penguins can sign Jagr at anytime since he was with the KHL previously. The July 1st date is for all NHL players, but since Jagr wasn't an NHL player, he can be signed today, tomorrow, whenever.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
Can we go back to talking about Morozov?!!! What is Straka up to these days?
This Jagr thing is quite exciting, but I am not too emotionally invested either way. I would like to see him back if he is cheap enough. If we have no problem tossing 500-75k0 for a chance on some of the guys we signed last year, I would think a chance on Jagr is worth around 2 mil. Seems to be the type of risk/reward GMRS goes for.

I disagreed with your original post, but I must admit I have the initial same reaction as to what "could have been" lol. Sometimes it is hard to realize that these guys have lives / decisions that effect their life / family (Easy to view them as pieces on a game of NHL 11').Lesky wrote:Very well put sir. No, the cap only applies for the regular NHL season, we are not in the season, teams are alowed to be above the cap ceiling or below the cap floor during the offseason, they just have to be within the cap during the regular season.ILikeTurtles wrote:True, but we still have to be under the cap of $59.4 million until July 1st.PolarPenguin wrote:The Penguins can sign Jagr at anytime since he was with the KHL previously. The Pens currently have 56.4 in players (I believe). I don' think the Pens would sign Jagr for more than $3 mill anyways (I don't see them signing many more of UFA until July 1)ILikeTurtles wrote:True, but we still have to be under the cap of $59.4 million until July 1st.PolarPenguin wrote:The Penguins can sign Jagr at anytime since he was with the KHL previously. But why would the Penguins be interested now if they werent back in summer 2008? Jagr was only 2 season away from 54 goals that summer.

I'm sure once they heard his salary demands that talk stoppedWe talked about him for a little bit after his time with the Rangers (July 2008), but that's about it."

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
Actually you guys are wrong about the 10% thing, the NHL has no rules about salary cap in the offseason, teams are allowed to be over as much as they want or under as much as they want, they have to be under the cap for the start of the regular season, the cap only applies in the regular season.IanMoran wrote:I'm pretty sure you're correct on the 10% thing... and I'm not quite sure if $64 is in effect NOW or on July 1sprtn55 wrote:I thought teams can exceed the cap by 10% in the off-season. Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
Jagr was reported to bee seeking a 2 year x 4 million deal with the Rangers back in 2008. Which I think he was worth easily. Sather would only do a 1 year deal and played hardball in the negotiations.IanMoran wrote:Actually Shero himself said they talked about Jagr that summerLesky wrote:But why would the Penguins be interested now if they werent back in summer 2008? Sather gave Drury and Gomez 7 million per year instead
