i'm reading brad thor series, on book 3...so far so good

I'm not sure if I posted about this book previously, but I reread "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss, it is one of a three part series. I just finished the second book of the trilogy, "the Wise Man's Fear". Absolutely fantastic. If you like fantasy novels I would highly recommend these books. Between the two books it was about 1600 pages I read in a week. I just couldn't put them down.

I just finished the second book of the trilogy, "the Wise Man's Fear". Absolutely fantastic. If you like fantasy novels I would highly recommend these books. Between the two books it was about 1600 pages I read in a week. I just couldn't put them down.

First one was good but the second one was extremely meh. I was expecting more to happen and it is basically a bad lovestory for the majority of the book.

typical stephen king novel... 300 pages of extremely detailed characterization, followed by 500 pages of awesome action and narrative, followed by 200 pages of the inevitable unsatisfying conclusion

Also I have read the Abercrombie books. The First Law trilogy is a fun read, but his books related to the trilogy are pretty meh.

In my opinion you should go to sci-fi, good fantasy novels are few and far between imo. I used to love the genre but ever since I have been reading sci-fi and much better literature in general, I have soured on fantasy big time.

kenny the kangaroo just finished reading the big short. as always, lewis writes a good book, and as always, he picks good characters.

About halfway through the book now. Yeah, Lewis does a great job identifying and describing the best characters to suit his books.

If you want something even more epic than Martin, try Robert Jordan. His writing is poorer, but his imagination is much greater. If you are going to pick the 2 biggest fantasy franchises they are Wheel of Time (Jordan) and ASOIAF. (if you go Robert Jordan do not read the prequel first, that should be saved for like after you read book 6 or something).

Don’t forget there are three more ASoIaF short stories out there. Martin has written three novellas featuring Ser Duncan the Tall. These are set around 100 years prior to the time of Game of Thrones. Each was published in a collection of short novels. “The Hedge Knight” is in the collection Legends, “The Sworn Sword” is in Legends II, and “The Mystery Knight” is in Warriors. These are great books, with good stories from some of the best fantasy authors out there (although Warriors is not limited to fantasy). In fact, I bought Legends just to get “The Little Sisters of Eluria,” a Gunslinger short story by Stephen King. Reading the “The Hedge Knight” was my introduction to the world of ASoIaF, and Terry Pratchett’s “The Sea and Little Fishes” in the same book led me to subsequently purchase every Discworld book. Legends also contains Jordan’s “New Spring,” which is the Wheel of Time prequel mentioned above by AlexPKeaton.

I just finished Sum of All Fears. Obviously the book is dated, but still a blast to read. Then I had a nightmare last night
