i still think that it's just giving people excuses for their behavior, but hey, that's just me.
I believe there are people who are legitimately sick and it causes them to be addicted. However, I also believe that there will be plenty of people classified as "sick" who just want to rationalize their choices.
The problem isn't with the fact that addiction CAN be a brain disorder, it's with the fact that not everyone who is "addicted" actually has a disorder.
Everyone is addicted to something. Drugs, speeding, alcohol, television, video games, junk food, picking their nose. Some addicitions are more destructive compared to others. But the way I see it, if everyone has an addiction, how can it be a disorder?

What is your addiction?
the second sentence is the list (even though it isnt a real sentence)

i agree... it's like the over diagnosis of ADD and ADHD that is running wild in the united states. some are legitimately ADD, others just are called ADD and use it as an excuse. not everyone can be a victim.

I don't think the article said anything about who is a victim.
it's not a matter of having to be said anywhere...i'm saying it myself. everyone's a victim. no one should be held responsible for their actions. it's all just hard wired into their brain and they can't help it.

I don't know where you hang out but very few people say that.
i used to hang out in a public school where no one was punished for anything they did as it wasn't their fault.... it was their upbringing, they have a learning disability, they can't control themselves, they can't pay attention, they can't do this, they can't do that... it's seriously getting to the point in public schools that you literally have to bring and get caught with drugs or a weapon to have any sort of serious punishment.

I loved public schools for the amount of stuff I got away with.
