If there was any concert that you wish you could go to, what would it be?
Mine would be when Pink Floyd played the Dark Side of the Moon at the Civic Arena and had the roof open during Breathe.

Keith Moon was just brilliant.
This was from the Rolling Stones "Rock & Roll Circus". The Stones delayed its release for years, because they embarrassed by how much better The Who was during the filming.

I don't think you'd have wanted to have seen them in Cincy In 1979 though..columbia wrote:The Who at the height of their powers.Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:If there was any concert that you wish you could go to, what would it be?

First concert was one of many KISS shows, sometime in the mid 80's. First album (cassette) that was 'mine' was ABACAB, given to me by an uncle. First one I bought for myself was Warlock -Burning The Witches,
Maybe switch the order to Monterey 2nd.

Drove right past it on a family vacation when I was 16/17. I remember my father complIning about the traffic.Willie Kool wrote:And add Summer Jam at Watkins Glen in 1973.
It's one of two concerts I drove right past while they were getting started that I wish I had attended, the other was a "Dead" concert At a place called Buckeye Lake somewhere between Columbus and Pittsburgh On I-70 in the Summer of 1992. ( July 1st ) I had a wife and 6 month old as well as a 10 year old step son at home. Oh how I fought with myself to call her and tell her I had to spend an extra night in Columbus. Looking back on it that's exactly what I should have done.

Re: Rock N Roll Warz Game Thread
concert would have loved to have seen? Zep, say circa 1973-4 era Zep. Hell, I'd've taken late Zep for that matter.
First album? The double-record Queen live album from 1979 (Killers). CD? Rush (A Farewell to Kings)
First concert? Good question. If I say after I was out at collage, the concerts were mostly country, right after Bryce Jordan center opened - Alabama, Tim McGraw/Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney/George Strait and Garth Brooks. Though have seen Little Feat and Chicago, as well as Clint Black, at Wolf Trap among others, and Buffett a time or two or three..

Haha. I've seen Warlock in concerts many times (well, three). They seemed to be the goto opening band when I lived in Germany. I saw them at Monsters of Rock and opening for (I think) Iron Maiden and then Judas Priest.Willie Kool wrote:First one I bought for myself was Warlock -Burning The Witches,
Nobody seemed to be listening to the music. Most of the shouts I heard were for the lead singer to take her top off.
She didn't. Not once.

This is your morning DJ with your weather forecast foe the day.... It seems that our night was a little longer than anticipated. Stay tuned, our daily show will get started shortly!
While you wait... A little something from Mississipppi Fred McDowell ( while technically the blues and not RnR, a worthwhile listen anyway )

"Sleepwalk", That is such a great cut... Does anyone still include "Steel Guitar" in Music today?Willie Kool wrote:Spoiler:
So many great instruments have disappeared from the scene. Where's the Hammond B3 anymore?
Seems like a "Retro" "Lenny Kravitz" style opportunity for someone.

*** NEWS FLASH !!! ***
Date: February 3, 1959
In the midst of a 24 city "Winter Dance Party" tour, a plane carrying The Bands of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Dion and the Belmonts and the "Big Bopper" has crashed in an Iowa cornfield.
"The Winter Dance Party Tour" was planned to cover 24 cities in a short 3 week time frame (January 23 - February 15) and Holly would be the biggest headliner. Waylon Jennings, a friend from Lubbock, Texas and Tommy Allsup would go as backup musicians.
Ritchie Valens, probably the hottest of the artists at the time, The Big Bopper, and Dion and the Belmonts would round out the list of performers.
The tour bush had no heat and broke down during the tour so Holly found a 21 year old pilot to fly a few of them to the next gig.
Dwyer Flying Service got the charter. $36 per person for a single engine Beechcraft Bonanza.
Waylon Jennings, Buddy Holly's backing guitarist, gave up his seat to J.P. "Big Bopper" Richardson who was fighting a cold.
The Big Bopper was:

Day three has begun... it takes seven (7) to kill (considering that Canaan has a "death vote" in the case of ties)

Rylan was the lone vote for redwill. Rylan was booed off stage. redwill was killed last night and was a regular villager. Looks like we are still lacking for any real evidence.
