Ask him if he'd consider doing he meeting via Skype. If not, just explain that your free time is too limited to meet in person, especially with that kind of travel. To be honest, it sounds like he has all the work he needs/can handle so he probably doesn't care if you book him or not.

I have a feeling i'm just going to call and cancel. The other person is much better at communication. I can only imagine how crazy things get with him the week after the wedding. He said he already has 2 other weddings on our day.
Oh, wow. I know a lot of photographers who run "wedding factories". The odds of there being issues are highly magnified. Is the other photographer the one you linked the other day? I don't know anything about her but from seeing her work and from what you've posted recently, I think you'd be making a solid choice.
Yes she is the one that i am not having trouble with. She seems much more personable (it is a husband/wife duo)

This is the one that i am:

I believe they are a pretty reputable / large photo company. Honestly the only reason we are considering them is a.) my cousin referred us which gets us a $700 credit and b.) they do both photo and video.

You know, for as much as they are a "wedding factory," image in that feel goes a long way. Their splash page is brutal, they're hosting and using an AOL e-mail address.

If they don't want to spend the time and money to present themselves, I'd need a reason to look at their images. Just an awkward pet peeve.

That's also surely no indication if they're really good or bad. It's merely presentation of a business. If you're not willing to promote yourself and do things in a more formatted way in line with web business, why should I get the impression that you're going to give it your all when I hire you.

Just a strange way to think about it I suppose.

I have no idea why they'd even use that page as their opening hello to the world. I'd skip all of that and get right to their flash heavy picture promotion page.

Once you get past that first page, they look pretty decent.

So did we. We really liked it there, not to mention it was relatively cheap.

We paid 300/hr for our photographer and his assistant who basically just held a reflector shield the whole time. He didn't charge for his set up time or engagement pics - just the hours of him actually shooting the wedding. He gave us a disc with about 800 pics on it - no printing and no editing done. That was perfect for me since there are a bazillion cheaper options to print, and I can photoshop little imperfections out of pics myself.

He was technically, very sound. He Had pro equipment and Knew what he was doing. He gave us very well composed shots, but it was not "art". If you want art, you'll pay 5000 plus.

We just sent a deposit today to "Sky's The Limit Photography". They had great reviews. For all day coverage w/ 2 photographers + photobooth, it comes out to $3700.

to me, this is just crazy. you could buy so many cool things with that money. youre never going to look at those pictures! litt and me will come with our canon cameras and take all the pictures for you.

heres my idea of wedding planning:

-rent firehall/vfw/ethnic club (i think i joined one at 3am on the south side a few years back)

-buy a few kegs of PBR and stick em on ice in those plastic tubs

-get a live band (the only thing id ok spending money on, it is a party after all)

-order a few 6 foot party subs from subway

-baked chicken

-rigatoni

-make cupcakes to get out of a cake cutting fee

-no flowers or center pieces

-5 drink minimum

It should be fun. I think we're going to just put the money we were going to spend on favors towards that.
