I use the Notes app on my iPhone to keep track of every book I've read on my Kindle. What does Goodreads do?

It's actually a website where you can track the books you are reading/will read/find new books to read. There is a social media component, so you can see what your friends are reading.

http://www.goodreads.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Goodreads app lets you scan books you find at the library or book store into your account for later reading. It's great, except when our local bookstore thought I was comparing prices with Amazon. :oops: They hadn't heard of Goodreads, but were happy with it after I explained it to them.

Can you tether a Kindle Fire to an iPhone/Droid?
If so, I will seriously consider buying one.

You should be able to do that with an Android phone, if you have the pay for the wifi tether or have it rooted. Or there is an app that does it...

so i finished the last hunger games book...
Spoiler:
eh. the last 100 pages were so contrary to the first 1,100 IMO. she spent all this time developing a story and then crammed the resolution into an overly condensed space, and abandoned a lot of the themes that i thought were important throughout.

and the whole final mission to the capitol...are we supposed to be pissed off that it ever happened? because it was a giant waste. more people die, including some that deserved a better ending (finnick), she sees first hand her sister being blown apart and then the rebels overtake the city anyways without their help. i guess the point was to give her more info to feed her suspicion and make her so deranged that she would have it in her to kill Coin, but i think there was a better way to do that without totally negating that whole mission.

i dunno...maybe i just didn't expect such a depressing conclusion.

and what was the deal with the camera men being named castor and pollux? was it an intentional homage to "Face Off", or just a bizarre coincidence?

castor and Pollux are the names of the Gemini twins. Not a faceoff reference... A mythology reference.

Just finished "Those Guys Have All The Fun" the ESPN book. It was solid, but a little boring towards the end. Now I'm finally getting around to reading Breakaway.

Just picked up Strain, the first book in a vampire trilogy authored by Guillermo del Toro. It's gotten really good reviews, pretty pumped to start it.

It's pretty good, seems like it jumps around a lot from being completely serious to monster squad awesomeness. By the end I really liked it, I see now the trilogy is finished, I'll have to take a gander at the other 2

Still on a kick of older books. Finished the Barnes and Noble volume 1 edition of sherlock holmes, that was awesome. Reading Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy right now....not sure if I'm really into it yet. Also dropped $35 at 1/2 price books last night to get stuff from Wharton, Trollope, Gogol, Hardy and Proust.

I haven't heard of him (till now). Do you suggest The Man who Was Thursday or his Father Brown short stories (from the wiki page)

I'll check it out for sure. Is it more like Wilkie Collins or Arthur Conan Doyle?

I'd say Doyle. The Father Brown stories are very clever, I think you'd thoroughly enjoy them.

That said, The Man Who Was Thursday is brilliant, too. I'd suggest to read it first.

I wonder what his idea of a short story is.

So are the paperbricks. No, that's not a typo.

Last two books finished were Silenced:How Apostasy and Blasphemy Codes are Choking Freedom Worldwide and the hard science-fiction classic The Mote in God's Eye.

That's in my queue of books to read. Cryptonomicon isa favorite of mine, but I ran out of steam reading his Baroque Cycle trilogy. I never actually finished the third book, and it's rare for me to do something like that. Stephenson would have profited from trimming those books down a bit, I think.

Did you like it? I think it's awesome.
It's free for the Kindle if anyone is interested. I might give it a shot.

Ah, it's a Project Gutenberg book: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/583" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So I went ahead and bought a kindle fire for the reasons below.

1) I had a $100 Amazon gift card from x-mas.
2) I was going to use that on older books that from what I understand you can get for free? (Can someone explain to me how you get books for the Kindle, and where I can load up on classics that should be free)
3) These e readers can be easily used when doing cardio workouts. I can't believe it took me all these years to figure that out. The reason I don't read when doing cardio is cause I can't hold the pages down...problem solved.
