Yeah, it's a weird game. I also hit better out of the rough than I do off the fairway. No explanation.Rylan wrote:Tee to within 75 yards is an adventure. Anything within 75 yds is easy for me. I don't understand it.

100-110 yards is my butter zone with getting close to the pin. Use my sand wedge and it's there. Also, my chipping and putting seemed to have just come out of nowhere to be good this season. I don't know what happened really, but I'm chipping it right up to the hole. Putting anything within 10 feet seems to fall. I don't know what happened, but I'm enjoying it!

I'm the exact opposite. I'm 20 yards from the green second shot on a par 5 and still manage to double bogey.Rylan wrote:Tee to within 75 yards is an adventure. Anything within 75 yds is easy for me. I don't understand it.

I need your putting prowess. Getting closer with that in-between shot from 40-70 yards. But as I've said for years, if I could putt, I'd be dangerous. Amazing how many strokes you give away when you chip it to 6-10 feet and can't convert.

Re: LGP Golf Thread
My putting is money. Everything else ranges from a 5 handicap to about a 15 depending on how I'm playing that day. That's the worst part about not playing as often as I used to; I can't get any consistency from round to round.

First time I ever golfed I shot a 47 on a 9. Since, well it hasn't been anywhere near that...

I've steadily gone down over the past few years. 1st 18 I ever played was like a 112. Down to around 90 (I've broken 90 once or twice).

Re: LGP Golf Thread
that's not bad at all for your first time, now just get back down to it and below it. I have yet to shoot under par over 9 holes. I managed one round of even par across 9, but that's been my best.Rylan wrote:First time I ever golfed I shot a 47 on a 9. Since, well it hasn't been anywhere near that...

kenny the kangaroos best was a 39 on the back nine and chestnut ridge.
best 18 hole score is an 82 at wanango in oil city. if anyone is every up in oil city for any earthly reason, its a great, great golf course. ross/tillinghast/some other guy designed it way back in oil citys hayday.

my best was a 38. 82 on 18 as well.
never scratched the mythical land of par yet. Handicap is right around 14, but thats just scores at my club, and if put in all my rounds, probably down to 11-ish.
Really tweaking my swing this year. Until that gets 100% comfortable, i'm way up and down. had a couple rounds with one 9 in the 30's and the next around 50 haha.

Since we're all showing off...
Best 9 -- 2-under 34 in a 9-hole night league 8 years ago. Shot a 1-under 35 on a different 9 of the same course 3 weeks later. Haven't shot par or better on a 9 since.
Best 18 -- 4-over 75 on Thanksgiving Day 2008. That turkey tasted extra special that day.

Re: LGP Golf Thread
speaking of wierd scores, one of the wierder, and best, golf rounds kenny the kangaroo played was at bedford springs 2 years ago. it was a very inconsisent day. On 9 of the holes (not consecutively), kenny the kangaroo was 1 under with 8 pars and a bird. unfortunately, on the other 9 holes, it was something like 17 or 18 over par. probably had only one or two bogies on the day, so very little consistency. which is why golf is such a wierd game.

Reminds me of my game... Think I went one 9 hole round hitting 6 or 7 GIR and still shot in the mid 40's because I can't putt.

Speaking of golf anamolies:
My wife and I met through our love of golf.
Proposed to my wife on the 11th teebox, same box where over a year earlier we first discussed what we were going to do when I graduated (after only two weeks of dating).
First four and last five holes of the round I shot 35, the 9 sandwiched around the proposal I shot 53.

Re: LGP Golf Thread
It was always fun golfing there before they rebuilt the resort. Some times there wouldn't even be anyone in the proshop. They'd just have a can and ask you to put money into it to play. Now it's, what? $180 to play a round? Crazy stuff.Rylan wrote:I really really want to spend a night at Bedford Springs.KennyTheKangaroo wrote:speaking of wierd scores, one of the wierder, and best, golf rounds kenny the kangaroo played was at bedford springs 2 years ago. it was a very inconsisent day. Greenbrier folks can't be happy about having the possibility of a Tiger & Phil-free weekend. Looks as if Tiger is on the yo-yo as much as any other player out there.

It's the open shaffer... tomorrow the best score could be a 74 and your boys could be shooting in the 80's. You're right to be cautiously optimistic.

Of course. I'm sure the leaderboard will change greatly. Watson is historically lousy in the Open.count2infinity wrote:It's the open shaffer... tomorrow the best score could be a 74 and your boys could be shooting in the 80's. You're right to be cautiously optimistic.
