Gather around the samovar, oh my peasant children, and I'll tell you a story.

In years past we had a happy life. Sure, we were poor. We were miserable, starving, illiterate, lice-ridden scum on the face of the desolate steppe.

... OK, so nothing has changed in that regard.

But after we rounded up all the Jews and shipped them off to "New York" in "America" and then rounded up all the Mennonites and shipped them off to "Kansas" in "America," things started to go really downhill.

Now we have nothing. Nothing but the church ... which, BTW, burned down last night.

Our taxes are due. The head man of the region has slept with all of our daughters and still wants to have us stripped, whipped, and imprisoned.

The Cossacks are knocking on our doors. Or would be, if we had doors.

So that's my story. Live with it. Or try to.

Oh, hell, just stop your crying and wailing and drink up. That's why we make the vodka.

... And pray that there are no werewolves coming out of the night to eat you up!

I'm sorry that I took so long to speak to you again. Last night I went to Morozovimsk, the next village over, to have the doctor there look at the growth on the base of my spine. You know the one.

Anyway, as usual, the doctor was a quack. He took all of my money and gave me some dried weeds which did nothing to help me. Mama Svetlana cut off the growth with her rusty sickle. You know the one.

So I'm fine, as long as I don't laugh.

Oh, and the village well is now poisoned thanks to someone throwing that dead donkey down it last Friday. I'm looking at you, Vasili.

On a lighter note, someone was killed by werewolves last night.

Before anyone asks, the bit about the poisoned well has nothing to do with the game. It's just a perfectly-timed and brilliantly-executed joke. A wonderful haha designed to bring you happiness. As LGP's self-appointed arbiter of hilarity, I can tell you that it's really funny.
