It took about 3 months for me to fully gain his trust. He would cower when I would make certain motions and it became obvious that he was treated very badly by someone.
So glad to hear you took the dog in. Love that picture of him, he is adorable. I am glad to hear that you gained his trust. I just don't get how people can be so abusive to defenseless animals/people.

I should note that canaan's dog that is afraid of males jumped right up in my lap when he first met me. #livinginadisneymovie

Willie was also abused and is afraid of most males....some people in this world.
doxies are a "novelty breed" to some people (OMG A WEINER DOG) and a lot of owners dont realize the level of attention they require. they can be a handful, but they rock faces.
Definitely the kind of dog I prefer my friends to have. My buddy has an English Bulldog, and the amount of care she needs is comedic....but I love going over there to play with the dog.

if i had the money and space, I'd love a pure german sheperd or a Rottweiler! I'd be the bad-ass girl on the North Side.

Champ...had him from the time I was 14 till the time I was 27 (my "coming of age" dog, if you will). Miss the hell out of him.
He went blind in his left eye at 6 years of age, hence the cloudy look. Didn't skip a beat for the next 7 though.

This is my dog, Katie. If you remember, I posted around June or July saying the doctors told us she had 30-60 days left or so (cancer). This picture is from last weekend. Somehow, she's still kicking.

Evgeni's new pet!
How adorable! Lucky dog to be in such a loving home!
(True confession: I admit this is one of the first things I thought of. Before Geno's time.)

my puppy Max:
We're not sure exactly what breed he is. They say the mom was mostly beagle but she was a mix as well. The pups were found abandoned, covered in fleas, and full of worms with their mom. The mom didn't make it, but all 5 of the pups got adopted. Ours is the runt of the litter and the only one that has fluffy fur. The rest have very short coats. He's awesome and we love him.

Tucker is the black and white one. He's a German Shorthaired Pointer and Beagle mix. Maddie is red and she is an Australian Shepherd.
