This one, THIS DAMN AD. I have an Iphone, the wife just got the 5. Come on Apple, ALL CELL PHONES with touch screens made in the last two years have screen setups like this. Hell the Iphone itself since it's creation has been setup like this. Just because you added an extra quarter inch to your screen (finally) doesn't mean you made some super innovation. It just means you caught up with everyone else. Steve Jobs has to be turning in his grave.

I haven't seen an ad for the Serious Fun NFL guy this week. Maybe they realized what a terrible idea it was and canned it.

There's a local radio commercial in Jtown which isn't super annoying, except right in the middle of it, the guy's cell phone (or maybe the business phone) goes off. Exact ringtone as my cell. I LOOK AT MY PHONE EVERY SINGLE TIME! Makes me rage.

No Pat, I'm not your friend. I don't even know what you're advertising but I'm not interested.Pat Boone wrote:Hello friend, I'm Pat Boone.....
And stop calling me your friend. I think he says it three or four times during the 30 seconds of ad time.

Ahhh, that one. I thought Huey as soon as I read the post. Not sure if it's me but I swear BobFM has been playing a lot of Huey Lewis lately....and every time I hear them, I think of American Psycho.

I never knew the name of that song. When you said Heart and Soul I was thinking it was either Huey Lewis or Joy Division (which really would have confused me). If you would have said the song from Big, then i would have picked up on it right away.
Something that I learned tonight: Huey Lewis' version of Heart And Soul is a cover

This isn't about a specific ad as much as a trend. What is it with fast food places and bowls of food. First KFC, then Taco Bell and now Boston Market.

The Geico ad campaign. Sorry but buying car insurance does not make me happier than Eddie Money running a travel agency, a witch in a broom factory, a bodybuilder directing traffic or Gallagher at a farmer's market.
In fact, it's kind of boring to buy car insurance.

as repetitive as it is and despite the core of it never changing, I agree. According to this site, the commercial was filmed in 1992: http://timballisty.blogspot.com/2007/11 ... ttery.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;shafnutz05 wrote:Not gonna lie, I love seeing the "BEST WISHES FROM THE LOTTERY!!" commercials come on. Since we're doing Christmas commercials, the Eat N Park star commercial is 30 years old this year: http://blog.eatnpark.com/2011/12/eatn-p ... rcial.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
mark this down since I like to hate a lot of things, but I like both of those commercials.

Both are classics! The lottery one has a different guy giving away tickets now, though. I'm totally confused why. But it's not the same old man.JS© wrote:as repetitive as it is and despite the core of it never changing, I agree. the one for whatever phone, where the guy is taking a cab to the airport, and his wife shares a video from their idiot kids, and then says something like, "I made you a video too... probably shouldnt watch it on the plane"
this bothers me for 2 reasons...
-maybe i'm a prude, but i don't really think it's appropriate to see this at like 2:30 in the afternoon on network TV. i'm sure somewhere a parent has had to have an awkward conversation with their child about this commercial.
-and the bigger reason... i don't buy that the guy would be all that excited to have porn of his wife. there's that scene in I Love You, Man that describes using your significant other as "adult material" is like serial killer type crazy behavior.

Re: What current ad campaign makes you contemplate homicide?
Ya know, I gotta agree and for the same basic reasons. The first time I heard the commercial, I actually kind of did a double take...like a "did I hear that right...?" and then when I saw it again and I thought, "hmph, that's a tiny bit racy for a daytime commercial with little kids in it and what not, but maybe that's just me..." I don't pride myself on being a prude certainly, but that really struck an awkward chord with me for whatever reason...just didn't quite feel right...
Then again, I mean, if that's the most sexually-charged thing in the media today than the people would still be against Larry Flynt...
