if it wasnt tiger, would a 300 lb boulder that takes 4 people to move it be considered a movable impediment?Letang Is The Truth wrote:If this wasnt tiger, would this have been caught?

Re: LGP Golf Thread
Faldo said Tiger should do the "manly thing" and DQ himself. I don't get that. He was given a penalty, per the rules. Based on some things I see on twitter some seem to think he's being given special treatment. Guess I don't get it.

I hope Tiger wins then walks around flipping everyone off in his green jacket.
But all in all, hitting the flag stick on that shot took him from a likely 4 to an 8. That very well may cost him the tournament.

Re: LGP Golf Thread
"As close as possible" is just like if he hit the ball OB. If you hit it OB from the middle of the fairway, walk up to it, realize it's OB, and then take the 'walk of shame' back to the original spot, you drop it right next to your divot, not 2 yards back. I'm not one to defend TW but he may have misinterpreted the rule thinking it was where the ball last crossed the hazard and he could go on a direct line, when really, it last crossed the hazard when it rolled back in.
I don't buy the 'not on TV, wouldn't be an issue' argument. However, the Committee looks horrible for their decision. They try to apply a rule but then contradicts themselves by putting out a statement saying they re-reviewed it because of an interview in which the player INTENTIONALLY played the ball from a different spot because it was 'a perfect yardage'.
My opinion, he should be out. Anyone else gets banged on this rule and they're gone. But because the Tournament is in bed with CBS, then they gotta make sure Tiger is still alive.

I would venture to guess they wouldn't DQ anyone for it. At least any big name.

Re: LGP Golf Thread
I love playing the game of golf, but this is one of the reasons that professional golf has driven me nuts in recent years. What other respectable sport allows people to phone on rules infractions? What other sport waits an afternoon before making a decision? And when does the statute of limitations end? Can I go review film and argue that Snead should be penalized for grounding his club and have him give a green jacket back?
From the angle I see he dropped within two club lengths, no closer to the pin, and did not improve his lie.
The way I read the "as close as possible" rule is in case you can't derrnine the exact position of your last shot. Remember the rules are written just as much for me at the mini tract as they are for Tiger. There are plent of shots during my round where I'd be lucky to get within 10 yards of exactly where Id hit it after the walk of shame.

I am about ready to call the Masters officials and complain about Faldo. Honestly, if you sit there watching the Masters with the rules of golf in your left hand and the phone in your right, reassess your priorities in life.Grunthy wrote:I kind of want tiger to win now because of how these announces keep bringing it up as if it its the worst infraction in history.

Wow....I had absolutely no idea how badly Rory McIlroy had melted down. That kid has raw talent, but man he is a basketcase. I think he is going to have limited success (despite the fact he already has two majors).

Re: LGP Golf Thread
went out to the driving range today for the first time this year. somehow my snap hook that I had on my mid and long irons is magically gone. I was hitting my fairway woods like a champ. Driver was pounding it long and straight. I didn't do a damn thing, just magically got fixed. Who says hard work pays off?

I have a feeling you just don't like him very much. He's had a brilliant career so far and there is no reason to believe he won't continue to excel.shafnutz05 wrote:Wow....I had absolutely no idea how badly Rory McIlroy had melted down. Re: LGP Golf Thread
Yea Rory has already been one of the best golfers of the past few years. He is having a rough patch and it is showing, but by the end of the year he will be Rory of old.
