I'm giving both versions to my groomsmen as gifts, with flasks and some other trinkets.blackjack68 wrote:Had some of their Apple Pie version on Saturday.

You can order different stuff if it's not stocked in the liquor store. Just some store clerks in Pa are crabby.LeopardLetang wrote:been drawn slowly but steadily to bourbon after a long scotch binge. it just has this fulfilling kick to it. just wish there were more varieties at my liquor stores. it makes me feel like an alcoholic when every new town i drive through i keep my eyes open for a liqour store

Got champagne with chambord for cham chams (can't believe I typed that). That guiness idea sounds like it would be good.

I'm almost positive there are no distilleries in Donegal.tifosi77 wrote:Do you know of any producers from County Donegal? That's where my family is from, and I've always wanted to try their stuff.Sigwolf wrote:I'm a huge Irish whiskey fan.
Edit: I went on the website of a large whiskey shop in Ireland to see if some smaller independent bottlers are from Donegal and came up with nothing.

That's actually the cite that I checked. I've been to the store in person and it is awesome.Pavel Bure wrote:Buschmills makes some good stuff as well. I can't drink most whiskeys anymore (unless they are distilled multiple times due to an allergy), but some of my favorite Irish whiskeys that I have tried are:
Tullamore Dew
Connemara Whiskey (on the peaty end of Irish Whiskeys)
Greenore
Kilbeggan

Have you been able to find it here? I have only been able to bring it back with me or order it online, which is expensive.slappybrown wrote:Connemara is phenomenal

Yes, it's very easy to find in PA. I've seen it at multiple Wine & Spirits here. If I recall, you're in Ohio, but the PA website can tell you which store close to the border has it.obhave wrote:Have you been able to find it here? Yeah, I was in Ohio, but just moved to Boston. I haven't checked out any of the spirit stores here yet but if you can find it in PA I'm assuming it should be in a place like Boston.slappybrown wrote:Yes, it's very easy to find in PA. No, I can't drink beer. Anything that is based in wheat, barley (malt), or rye I cannot have unless it is distilled at least twice. Luckily for me, Scotches and Irish whiskeys are distilled twice and three times respectively so I am okay in drinking them. Not everyone with Celiacs has a reaction to whiskey, and its still undecided if it's okay to drink or not. Basically, I will try any whiskey once. If it makes me sick I won't drink it again. I can drink all other hard alcohols not based in those grains, ciders, wine, gluten-free beers, etc. I'm not all that limited.the wicked child wrote:Damn. Re: Liquor and Wine and Mixed Drinks
So despite the lack of anything in South Africa even remotely resembling decent beer, they do have quite the plethora of spirits and good wine. The wine is a post for another day but I simply must share this liquor anecdote. About 2 hours outside of Joburg is a tiny town called Dullstroom, home to the largest whisky bar in the Southern Hemisphere. OutofFoil and I of course had to stop there when up that way and we were not disappointed. Housing over 1,000 bottles and offering tasting menus that cover every imaginable facet of the whisky world, it was a whisky lovers dream come true. Between the two of us, we sampled:
Macallan 10 yr Fine Oak
Macallan 12 yr
Macallan 15 yr Fine Oak
Macallan Whisky Makers Edition
Macallan 18 yr
Connemara Peated Irish Whisky
Johnny Walker Swing
Caol Ila 12 unpeated
Highland Park 1990
Talisker 57°North
Ardbeg Uigeadial
Port Charlotte The Peat Project
Octomore
Balvenie Monkey Shoulder
Balvenie Portwood 21
Johnny Walker Premier
Jameson Signature Reserve
An Cnoc 16 yr old
Cardhu 12 yr
And of course a photo of just a fraction of the bar.
