Hand 2 for me: pass

as for hand 1, I didn't think I had enough high cards to bid diamonds, even though I had a slew.

You would have had a little trouble. I had 3 diamonds incuding the left bower (J Hearts). assuming you lead with the J Diamonds, WK would have taken that with the Joker. You probably could have trumed the next card and got the lead back. Unfortunately for you, you'd have to play A diamonds. I'd have taken that with J Hearts, then i'd still have the highest remaining trump (K Diamonds). So there's 3 lost tricks there. You'd just have to be able to trump everything else or hope Juice had an ace or two.
