When I was growing up, from about ages 8-12, I would occasionally get severe sharp pains in my side. The doctors ruled out appendicitis and said it was just gas. I guess they were right, since the pains (if not the gas) eventually stopped occurring. Of course, that didn't stop me from faking it when I wanted to skip school.

When I was 10, the front brake locked up on my new bike and I went head-first over the front handlebars onto the sidewalk. Scraped up my hand and my forehead. The bike was never the same.

we're all calamity corner in here. I think we all had a case like that with bikes growing up. Mine was on a steep hill on Ft Belvoir, somewheres about 10-11 or so. Got some nice scars still to show for it on my knees. It hurts like the dickens but once it heals it becomes a hell of a story.

Glad to hear everyone is OK. I've had more bike wrecks than I can remember - a few on pavement but most in the dirt. I've been OTB (over the bars) on a 250 dirtbike, my bmx, at least two different 10 speeds, and most recently (two years ago) on my mountain bike. Lots of scars.
