Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
So each GoRuck team has to carry a 25lb team weight in addition to our packs. This weight can NEVER touch the ground (same thing with our packs and the 2 flags that we carry). Here is what we came up with. 20lb sledge with a 5lb chain sling.

GoRuck in 8 hours. Got an email from the cadre running this to inform us it's 13 hours long. See you all at 10am tomorrow morning. Embrace the suck...

Took ZMA last night and P6 first thing this morning and now I just downed Beta Alaine, Caffeine and A **** ton of Nitric Oxide precursors... I'm going to run through **** walls today and there is going to be chemical reactions within me for every decent looking female I see today

Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
Most of the pics haven't been posted yet but here are a few from the Ruck.
We carried 2 of these damn things for 3 miles. You can see me, third from the left with a red head lamp, waiting to take over when someone on the carry team needed a rest.

This is from my time as PL. We were walking down the middle of the river for 2 miles to a bridge where a "helicopter part" was supposed to be waiting for us. The sun had come up and it was about 7am at this point. The water was getting too deep to keep walking through the water so I lead the team up the bank and ordered everyone up an almost vertical hill about 8 feet tall. We had to carry all of our rucks and equipment up there. The first time we did it it took 19 minutes. The cadre called me over and told me I did a good job with my plan but I didn't delegate enough and did too much work on my own. He ordered me to order everyone BACK DOWN into the water, neck deep, and then do it again and we better finish in under 9 minutes or else we were crawling through the woods to the bridge. We met the time hack...

More pylon carrying. I'm first person on the left. I swear I carried the weight throughout the night lol...

You have 2 options for rest on a Ruck. Front lean (pictured below) or take a knee. Unfortunately it's not our choice...

At the bridge. The log on the left was procured about 5 hours earlier. Nothing like carrying that sucker for 9 miles.

Ill post more as they roll in. I seriously recommend this to anyone. You learn something special about yourself when you are pushed to the limit of your physical ability and then you find out its just the beginning.

Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
Cadre had us lay down, hip to hip, and then one at a time we were to be carried down the whole line. No crawling. No helping. If it's your turn to go you best be dead weight. I'm to the left of the white shoes in the black hat.

So I'm assuming you had to drink the keg empty of beer and then carry it around.

Not signed up yet, but basically a few people from work are talking me into this.

How much pop were you drinking that you could lose ten pounds in three weeks? I assume a lot...

I drank 3 sodas in 2012 and I think it had a lot to do with my weight loss.

Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
Thinking about starting some strength training again.
I've never been very successful. It's hard for me to find time with two kids and a full time job but I guess 0530 in the morn' will have to do. I think I'm going to start a squats, dead-lift, bench press, over head press, and pull up routine 3 days a week. I just need to stick with it.
I love running, but i want to give strength training a real try. I can say right now I am definitely skinny fat. I'm 6'2" and weight 200 but it looks like I weigh 170. I have little muscle and a nice even layer of fat around my whole body. I'd like to just be more fit overall.

Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
Finally hit my lifetime lifting goal of raw bench pressing 400 pounds last week. Pretty good accomplishment since I weigh 195 and don't roid out. There is a bench press competition in my area I think I'm gonna check out, anyone ever do one of these before??

Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
That's impressive. Congrats! I'd be happy to bench 200 lbs!
