I wouldn't mind a 3-hour final.

3. Why did Walt tell Jesse about Jane? I don't think it's a matter of simple spite, or confession, but a bit of both done in the act of burying Heisenberg. The desert is Heisenberg's birthplace, and that spot in particular is where Walt shed his pants, got naked, and turned into the meth devil incapable of telling the truth. That for me is why this is not a matter of pure spite: if this were Heisenberg talking, Jesse would not deserve honesty, but would be something manipulated with lies, poison, or force. This is the first act of Mr. Lambert, the horrible byproduct of the chemical reaction between Walter White and Heisenberg. Mr. Lambert is about clearing ledgers, burying bodies, and crawling out of the desert with new covers and blank tracks--something happening in this same scene. If Jesse's hurt by it, that's fine. But this is less Heisenberg stabbing Jesse one last time than Mr. Lambert veering into inhuman Dr. Manhattan territory, and erasing every trace of what he once was in service of creating his own galaxy.
Meth Sisyphus is genius.5. I laughed out loud at Walt rolling the barrel along to the Limeliters' "Times Are Getting Hard, Boys" both because it's a literal rolling out of the barrel for the worst party ever, and also because Meth Sisyphus walked right past the pants he lost in season one's opening RV cook scene.

Torn on this. Think it will definitely boil down to a Jesse/Walt confrontation. But jesses major downward spiral started when he killed Gail. I don't know that he'd kill again, even Walt. Although maybe Gilligan sets it up like that and has Jesse carry out the deed anyway. I don't see Walt killing Jesse.the wicked child wrote:Not that I thought otherwise prior to last night, but after telling him about Jane, there is no way that Jesse doesn't kill Walt given the chance.

I don't see Walt killing Jesse unless he directly threatens his family. I could see Jesse snapping and killing Walt though, especially if anything happens to Brock.

Of course the Jane thing might be enough as well... That is if Jesse gets the chance at all.

Re: A little late, but... Breaking Bad???
I believe Walt took Holly as some sort of leverage and didn't formulate the plan until after the "mama" thing - they wouldn't have just added that to the episode for no reason.
I can't envision any scenario whereby the Nazis would want to come after Walt's family. He doesn't owe anything to them and hasn't wronged them in any way. If he had, they would have kept all 80 million and killed him in the desert. I think Walt returns to Albuquerque because some blue meth shows up in New Hampshire and he knows Jesse must still be alive. Maybe in this sort of reconciliation Walt's doing for himself, he realizes they must be forcing Jesse to cook by using Andrea and Brock as leverage and wants to save them to do some good, which is why he gets the gun.
Still no idea though how his house gets ransacked and what the Ricin is for though. Obviously the story arc with his family is not done.

This is genius14. Jesse is on a leash, but won't be on it for long. The last thing you see in "Ozymandias" is a stray dog crossing the road, after all, as Mr. Lambert drives off into the sunset.

I took it more as a "Lone Wolf" than stray dog off the leash. Given the nature of the scene, symbolism for Walt makes more sense than symbolism for Jesse.
But what the hell do I (or any of the rest of us) know? This is Vince Gilligan's world; we just live in it.

I think the house gets ransacked because the family abandons it after Walt leaves. Maybe Marie or the police tell them they're not safe living there and need to go somewhere else. I doubt it's anything more than that.Mr. Colby wrote:

Still not sure how the ricin will come into play. Figuring it must be for Jesse or Walt though. The ricin wouldn't be used against the Nazis and I'm not sure who else would be offed at this point.

I took it as meaning Walt is now the "rabid dog" but this explanation makes way more sense.MWB wrote:Yes, wonderful. Ricin poisoning apparently causes a long, slow, agonizing death. No way Walt uses the ricin on himself.

The ricin wiki page also says it could be used as part of cancer treatment--as a 'magic bullet' to destroy targeted cells.
Would be an ironic coincidence.

I think Walt Jr. is going to play a key role in the next two episodes. His world has just been destroyed. His father isn't actually the man he thought he was. His uncle, who was seen as a second father figure (possibly even looked up to more than Walt) the entire way through the series, is now dead. I've also read reports that RJ Mitte (the actor) said he was surprised at the amount that Walt Jr. is involved this season and to be honest, I have yet to see it.

Interview with Rian Johnson and Moira Walley-Beckett. Very interesting insight into the episode, as well as the acting of baby Holly.

Re: A little late, but... Breaking Bad???
I'm rewatching the episode now and I just remembered something that fascinated me; right before he is about to be executed, Jesse looks up to the sky and sees two doves flying together. Originally I thought this symbolized Jesse reuniting with Jane, flying away to the life they never got to have together. But since he didn't die, I'm not sure what to make of it. Anybody have any thoughts on that scene?

Doves? Thought they were hawks. When I saw it I was thinking it represented Walt and Jesse.

Re: A little late, but... Breaking Bad???
I believe there was a point in the series where Jesse looked in the sky and saw two birds--I think it was when he was in that rehab facility after Jane's death. However I think at this point it was the writers/directors poking fun at the predictability of the situation (in most shows this would end up with a gunshot and the birds scattering). For example (Game of Thrones related)...Staggy wrote:I'm rewatching the episode now and I just remembered something that fascinated me; right before he is about to be executed, Jesse looks up to the sky and sees two doves flying together. That's such a weird cliche. It's in Martyrs too
