I will be depressed. I watch sports, news, children's shows (2 daughters, 1 & 5), and Breaking Bad.

Well, there's a new Homeland series to look forward to.
Not really the same, I know. Not at all.

Maybe this Low Winter Sun that AMC is trying to cram down our throats is watchable?

Re: A little late, but... Breaking Bad???
I feel like it's the end of an era with Breaking Bad ending and Mad Men winding down soon as well (although Mad Men is getting the ridiculous BB treatment of having its final season stretched into two years). It was getting into these two shows that convinced me that TV could really be as good or better than the best movies out there. As of now, I'm not sure I see any shows of comparable quality and power out there.

I'm watching The Wire again at the moment. So, so good.

Same here. Watched the first two season over the summer, have taken a break to watch BB and Dexter, and will then resume The Wire.Gaucho wrote:I'm watching The Wire again at the moment. So, so good.
For me, Sons of Anarchy, Justified, and The Americans are shows that will fill the BB void. None are as good (although The Americans could have a shot of approaching it), but all are very good.

After Breaking Bad ends, everyone should just watch The Shield.

The Shield was great. Not quite as good as BB, but great. Jason Whitlock just wrote a column extolling the virtues of The Shield over BB.Dickie Dunn wrote:After Breaking Bad ends, everyone should just watch The Shield.

No reason the Nazis should be supporting Todd in his quest for Lydia. High risk - no reward.

My brother and I were discussing before Season 5A that the Gray Matter thing seemed like it was going to be ignored rather than revealed. Color me stunned to see it resurface now.

The fact that there is one more episode left let you know something was still going to spark him into going back to ABQ... didn't see that one coming as being the thing.

I loved that Grey Matter played a part. I think Elliot and Walt's relationship was a really interesting dynamic and I'm glad they came back to it.
I had a hard time gauging Walt at the end though...was he mad that Jesse is still alive, or that he knows he is being forced to cook for Todd's uncle? Is he pissed at Elliot and Gretchen for what they said? His family for disowning him? So many questions left.

Seems like grey matter was the main trigger. He doesn't want to get screwed one more time, so he'll do whatever is needed to prevent that. I don't think he's as concerned about Jesse cooking.

It's pretty safe to say that he's pissed at Elliot and Gretchen.

Re: A little late, but... Breaking Bad???
I think Grey Matter was the trigger, but the rest sort of filled in the blanks (like Jesse probably cooking his blue meth as kind of mentioned in a round about way in the broadcast). All his creation again leads to a better life for someone else. Nazis have his money, his life, his student, his creation.DontToewsMeBro wrote:I loved that Grey Matter played a part. When they came on the screen you knew what was coming. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant writing. It ties in the background storyline for why Walt started becoming who he was. While I think a lot of this season wasn't figured out until later, I think this "line" of Grey Matters triggering the end was the plan from the beginning.
(And yes he is pissed at those two for what they said for good PR)

Re: A little late, but... Breaking Bad???
I think you're right about Gilligan having that in mind from the beginning. Also, could be possible that he uses the ricin on Elliot or Gretchen (*not that I believe this will happen).

Re: A little late, but... Breaking Bad???
Once again, this show delivers something I never expected... Gray Matter being the trigger for his rage? Definitely never saw that coming. Not only was it not on my radar, wasn't even in the galaxy...

Re: A little late, but... Breaking Bad???
I'd love to know what Gilligan had planned out for this show from the beginning. There is so much that circles back it makes me think that he had much of it mapped out from day one.

Re: A little late, but... Breaking Bad???
The way they saved the opening motif to use in the series until the very end was masterful. Very well done.
