Re: NFL
Still think the worst was Freeman. He only completed 37% of his passes and his misses were not even close. His QB rating was 40.6. Tampa let him go for a reason. He should get on with his life's work.

Dennis Dixon was a lot worse IMO, they had to run the Tino Sunseri type of offense where they basically never would even attempt any real passTroy Loney wrote:I think the washed up Tommy Maddox version that we saw just before he finally retired is the worst pro QB i've ever seen.

Even Shafnutz can't reverse jinx Tampa. They're a disaster.MRandall25 wrote:inb4 they win out the rest of the season.shafnutz05 wrote:Wow @ the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What a dysfunctional, imploding franchise.

Re: NFL
Next expansion market for the NFL? London. So predicts the local sports guy's interview with a NFL insider. NFL really looking to broaden its fan base with London and Mexico City as solid contenders.
He said London will have a team within the next 2 seasons. Judging by the six teams being sent next year for a game, it makes sense since the demand is there.

Re: NFL
Los Angeles, with our population supporting many teams (who is he kidding, 80% still support the raiders), is not a hot topic any longer as needing a NFL team to keep a NFL fan base and marketing revenue stream, so says the guy being interviewed. London has passed LA as the hot and rising market to be in.
It would be interesting to see how the NFL taps into football talent in another country. Being that this year so many QB's really stink, there must be someone in the UK that can throw a spiral pass, right?

League competition does not readily lend itself to trans-Atlantic commutes. Or, in the case teams like Seattle, SF, Oakland, San Diego, Arizona, transcontinental along with transoceanic commutes.

The problem with that argument is that demand for NFL games is not the same as demand for a London-based NFL team.BigMcK wrote:Next expansion market for the NFL? London. What player would want to live and play there? The travel alone would be brutal; I'm sure Seattle would love playing an away game there.

It Gaucho can adjust his body clock for Pittsburgh, I think a professional football player can do something similar.tifosi77 wrote:League competition does not readily lend itself to trans-Atlantic commutes. All their road games would be murderous; even playing the closest Eastern teams (NE, NYG, NYJ) would be more travel than the Seahawks going to Miami.Fast B wrote:What player would want to live and play there? The travel alone would be brutal; I'm sure Seattle would love playing an away game there.
Then you factor in the added time and hassle for it being international travel (customs, etc), the fact that it would be hugely expensive for visiting teams to stay there (more than in any U.S. city), and I think it's a non-starter of an idea.

80,000 seat Wembley arena. NFL has zero $ outlay to bring it up to date. Win, NFL.
53 players paying dues to the NFLPA. Win, NFLPA.
Novelty of a team in another country where the NFL commentators can explain bangers and mash to Monday Night Football fans?
if this is a buy or sell deal as far as the NFL is concerned, total buy.
Travel aside, there are dreamers of playing in the The NFL that are playing in the Arena Football League for cheap. To play pro, giving your left nut leaves you still with one.
with bangers and mash each night at home.
NFL revenue in 2012 from Money Magazine? 10 Billion. Enough to buy a private jet for a team to rent for games here and there.

Re: NFL
Bill Barnwell did a decent job of laying out why putting a team in London permanently is a really bad idea. I'll just link to his article rather than write most of the same stuff.

None of this matters to the NFL, because they're trying to make every penny possible.
