All I know, is that if it's going to be this bitter cold, I wish it'd just go ahead and snow a foot here in Pittsburgh.

Re: 2013-2014 Winter Weather Thread
it felt colder this morning than it did when we had the -10/-40 wind chill. Even worse, I forgot to throw gas in the car last night, so I had to freeze outside while I threw a quick $10 in.
I'd rather it snow 4 feet in 24 hrs than deal with sub-zero tempsAll I know, is that if it's going to be this bitter cold, I wish it'd just go ahead and snow a foot here in Pittsburgh.

Seems like the past few years DC and points east get walloped and we don't get much of anything.Malkamaniac wrote:All I know, is that if it's going to be this bitter cold, I wish it'd just go ahead and snow a foot here in Pittsburgh.
We are overdue for a monster storm.

Must be warmer the farther north you go. I was between zero and one the whole way from Beaver to New Castle this morning. Feel the heat!

My area school district didnt even have a delay yesterday - the other 2 districts locally were closed. Today they had a 2 hr delay I believe. The crossing guard at my corner wasn't there. Back state roads are still snow covered and looking at the temps the next few days, it looks like they will be staying that way. F'in PennDOT.

pro tip: in sub zero temperatures, its a bad idea to take wear your dress shoes out while your dog takes it of its business. dress shoes do not provide adequate insulation for such activities.

Re: 2013-2014 Winter Weather Thread
Speaking of. I think I figured out why it's so bad. Yesterday I was going down the highway and there was a literal convoy of plow trucks on 2 lane. They were 3 wide and 2 deep and followed by a 7th truck that said "plow truck ahead". Is this like a new thing in the PennDOT union or something?FreeCandy44 wrote:Your tax $$$ at work....mac5155 wrote:My area school district didnt even have a delay yesterday - the other 2 districts locally were closed. kenny the kangaroo's dog is a beast in the cold (akita/elkhound mix, so no shortage of fur), but her feets get cold, too. we went for a long hike last saturday at laurel hill state park and while she was not fazed at all by the cold, she stopped fairly often to try and to chew the ice balls off of her paws. kenny the kangaroo felt bad but like a true baller, the dog was a trooper that fought through the discomfort.count2infinity wrote:i always feel bad for my dog on the really really cold days. his feet get cold really fast.

It is the worst.
No joke, we get to Meadville and the skies are clear and the sun is shining. There is a sign on the side of the road that reads "White-Out conditions ahead, Drive Carefully"
My one buddy is like, looks like they havent updated the sign/warning. We get 3 miles down the road and you cant see the car 6 lengths in front of you. Now I remember why I dont drive North of I-80 in the winter.

It's hilarious, read on Facebook someone I know from Austin saying that they think the ice storm is finished for the most part and "it's safe to go out now, y'all"

Re: 2013-2014 Winter Weather Thread
I switched cars with my mom for a couple weeks, and i think her battery died and her lock froze as well. I can't unlock with the keys and can't manually open it. Additionally, the store that I walked to did not have deicer or wd-40 and I'm not walking to an auto parts store tonight. Tomorrow though, hopefully i'll get into the car so that i can pop the hood and jump it.
