The chaos in Georgia is bordering on the absurd. I havent seen a photo yet where you can't see the lines on the road.

Wimps.
We didn't get any snow, but my street looked sort of slick this morning. I'm not leaving the house today, so whatever.

I'd rather have snow than 2-3 inches of solid ice like I've seen in thepictures thoughcolumbia wrote:Wimps.

Re: 2013-2014 Winter Weather Thread
that's because you can see the lines beneath the ice. the snow is not the issue.DudeMan2766 wrote:The chaos in Georgia is bordering on the absurd. I havent seen a photo yet where you can't see the lines on the road.
the ATL issue in a nutshell:
1) the forecast was for most of this to hit further South. the forecast was wrong.
2) schools and business all released about 1:00PM. imagine a few million people all trying to exit the city at once.
3) too many tractor trailers jack-knifing because they weren't properly prepared. the interstate through downtown ATL is a MAJOR thoroughfare to Florida
4) even though the roads were pre-treated the volume of cars pretty much beat that right off the roads and once they got icy crews couldn't get around traffic to spread out the salt and sand.
5) people here don't have "winter tires" because we don't need them. makes it a little harder to drive on ice.

Re: 2013-2014 Winter Weather Thread
That happens a few years ago in ATL but it started the night before and everyone stayed home the next day. Yesterday, it started in the morning and everyone tried to go home at the same time which made it that much worse.ExPatriatePen wrote:I'd rather have snow than 2-3 inches of solid ice like I've seen in thepictures thoughcolumbia wrote:Wimps.

Looks like central and eastern PA is right in the jackpot zone for another six to twelve inches of snow. Man, this winter has been crazy

Snowing pretty good here in little Washington. I just shoveled 2 to 3 inches off the drive. I like winter (except for ******* snow).

I'd rather have the snow instead of the subzero wind chills, or at least that's what I'm going with at the moment.

Reverse for me. Zub zero temps kept all the morons off the road. I made it to work and home at record times.JS© wrote:I'd rather have the snow instead of the subzero wind chills, or at least that's what I'm going with at the moment.

Are we supposed to get more snow in the coming weeks, like major storms in Pgh? Somone told me that.

On KDKA last night, it was reported we could "possibly" get a large amount of snow Tuesday night through Wednesday. To the north of Pittsburgh is supposed to possibly get a foot or more. The city could get up to 6.newarenanow wrote:Are we supposed to get more snow in the coming weeks, like major storms in Pgh? Somone told me that.
They tacked on the "too early to tell" caveat.
Considering it took them until the 11pm news to revise the forecast for today, I put no stock in what they said last night about Tues/Wed.

Getting pummeled here...a solid 7" or snow of heavy, wet snow down. Unlike the previous snowstorm, which was a joy to shovel, this is going to suck I think.

I woke up to about 5" of snow on the car this morning. Called a coworker, he said his wife's school didnt even get delayed (Coraopolis area, near work) so I figured I'd drive in. Once i hit guntown there was just a dusting.
