I thought the Jaime Tyrion scene was one of the best in show history.

If you remove the Bran bs, I actually really enjoyed the episode... but alas, one cannot.

Re: George R.R. Martin
I think all of the Bran stuff is going to pay off. It's obvious in the books that his character is going to play a huge part in the overall story somewhere, but in a book the author can take his time and have it not affect the reader so much. On TV they need to do something to keep us engaged with his character. This is what they came up with. I don't mind it.

I enjoyed it too. Bran's story is boring, and this makes it more interesting because that story has nothing to do at the moment if they went by the books.canaan wrote:i enjoyed this weeks episode.

Re: George R.R. Martin
Dreadfort is a little further north than Winterfell. And it's close to a river that almost puts you into the Gift. How long did it take Jon and Tyrion to get to the Wall in S1? One man riding or boating as fast as he can could half that maybe.the wicked child wrote:Yep. Bolton sent him to look for Bran and Rickon, and perhaps deal with Jon if he felt like a threat.
I don't necessarily have a problem with him being there so much as he seemingly warped there while the wildlings have been on the way for almost a season at this point.
Martin has said before the Wall is about 300 miles long. looking at maps of Westeros puts the Dreadfort at 500-600 miles away. So probably a week at best. But there's no way of knowing how long ago Locke left to go North. It was before Joffrey's wedding, right? I'd say 7-10 days have passed reasonably.

Re: George R.R. Martin
So the Bran stuff was as pointless as I imagined. At least they resolved it quickly and didn't leave it sitting there like a bad pierogi on the plate for multiple episodes like they did with the missing dragons in S2.
That aside, I enjoyed the stuff with the mutineers. That could have stood on its own without all of the added drama of Bran. Oh well.
I am somewhat disappointed that this is all we got of Locke... seems like he could have brought more to the table if he stuck around for awhile.
The Meereenese Knot has begun to tighten around our necks. God help us all.
Only major complaint with this episode is how fricken short it was... couldn't have been more than what 51 or 52 minutes?

I also thought it went fast but attributed that to be revved from the Pens game.
Let's hope we veer a little more back towards the books because the Bran thing was wasted (I was going to say pointless, but you already used it.).

Didn't appreciate the dumb Bond villain move of Locke letting everyone else live while he took bran away. I mean...come on. Karl's death was also a bad cliche.

The Hound and Arya dialogue was excellent. Hound's description of the First Sword of Braavos was great, as was his use of the c-word.

Did Cersei push to arrange a marriage with Tommen and Marg? I don't remember that happening in the books. Cersei despised Marg from what I remember.

Re: George R.R. Martin
Cersei spent the episode attempting to manipulate the 3 judges. I am pretty sure that she was against it in the books, but this makes sense if you consider that she knows it is likely to happen anyway... and her sole motivation here is swaying Mace Tyrell to her side through Margaery.

You know, I just read a comment in another board mentioning exactly that.
It makes more sense now.

Turn? Is it possible to turn into a heel when you already are one?
