Re: *** Wars of Beleriand Game Thread ***
From what I recall, while Feanor is not evil to the extent of Morgoth, he is not really good per se either. I feel like they should be treated as a potentially dangerous independent faction until other evidence comes to light.
Certainly finding Morgoth is of the utmost importance to all.
Unfortunately, most of what I remember of the story is what is covered in Blind Guardian's Nightfall in Middle Earth album... and even then I generally forget the stories behind the songs.

Maybe they aren't aligned with Morgoth, but they swore the Oath:MRandall25 wrote:there's almost 0 chance the House Feanor is bad. None.
And held to it to the point of being responsible for all three kin-slayings.“Be he foe or friend, be he foul or clean
Brood of Morgoth or bright Vala,
Elda or Maia or Aftercomer,
Man yet unborn upon Middle-earth,
Neither law, nor love, nor league of swords,
Dread nor danger, not Doom itself
Shall defend him from Fëanáro, and Fëanáro’s kin,
Whoso hideth or hoardeth, or in hand taketh,
Finding keepeth or afar casteth
A Silmaril. This swear we all…
Death we will deal him ere Day’s ending,
Woe unto world’s end! Our word hear thou,
Eru Allfather! To the everlasting
Darkness doom us if our deed faileth…
On the holy mountain hear in witness
and our vow remember,
Manwë and Varda!"
IMO it's very likely that the House of Fëanor cares only for the Silmarils, and couldn't care less if they have to kill everyone else to get them.

When I was in high school, we were given an assignment to read Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner. I was so confident I knew the story from Iron Maiden's song I didn't read it. I didn't fail the test, but came close.
Later I memorized the entire Coleridge poem and can recite about 20% of it to this day.

I remember when I had to read Rime of the Ancient Mariner being shocked by how much bigger it was than the Maiden song. Fortunately, I was not tested on it... only had to mark passages that I felt were "important"... which basically entailed highlighting the maiden song.

Does take time. Sorry I'm slacking.MRandall25 wrote:Maybe you should read up on the material then.
And that goes for just about everyone. This game is going to go nowhere if people don't know what the hell is going on.
Read the stuff online. It's not hard.

Who is openly against understanding it?MRandall25 wrote:Confrontational?
No.
I'm trying to get people to understand what's going on and what everything means. The only way to do that is for everyone to read the stuff about the Silmarillion online.
When people are openly against understanding what's happening in the game, it gets near impossible to play the game. We all need to work together to defeat Morgoth, but if only one or two people are on the same page because everyone is ignoring the back story, it gets a little frustrating, no?

Re: *** Wars of Beleriand Game Thread ***
Alright. Here is everything:
I am Maedhros, son of Fëanor.
I have two special powers: If I am killed (day or night), I will be automatically protected . Also, given certain conditions which are hidden to me at this time, I may be able to form the Union of Maedhros with a few other Elves.
As for the orange faction, our goal, as I said, is to defeat the Enemy and find the Silmarils (through sees and night kills during the night phase).
We have a seer and an angel. Shad was our vig, so we no longer have a night kill.
And no, we have no idea why shad lied about who he was (though IMO, it was probably because Zaro said he was red, not orange). As I've said multiple times, he's an idiot, and is probably the reason none of you are going to believe me.
Now, does everything that I've been saying since the last day phase make sense?
Our goal is pretty much the same as the village's. The only way we can find the Silmarils is at night, through our sees. Since we don't have a vig, we can't negatively affect the village. Since there's a possibility of forming the Union of Maedhros, I don't see any way that we, the House of Feanor, can negatively affect the game.
Unlike shad, I am not going to lie about who I am. I am Maedhros, and my faction has the same goals as the village: to defeat the enemy. Again, we can only get the Silmarils through sees during the night phase. We can only be helpful to the cause.

No, I can. I believe the one kill I was protected from was last night, but I didn't want to give Morgoth's forces that information.

And now they have it, so whatever.
Before you say anything, it was withheld in hopes that the Union of Maedhros could be formed before I died. Otherwise, this orange/green/red thing is going to hang over the rest of the game. I didn't want the color to become more of a distraction than it already is.

I read this: " If I am killed (day or night), I will be automatically protected." as to mean you could never be killed and was confused.

I wanted to keep the focus on the fact that we can only help the village since our vig is dead.

Re: *** Wars of Beleriand Game Thread ***
The Union was a very short-lived alliance that lost the only battle they fought, while the Oath was a major source of contention for much of the First Age. If we are to take your advice and look to the source material, I have to conclude that the only true goal of the House of Fëanor is possession of the Silmarils. You probably win if you get them back, regardless of what else is happening.
