The Wars of Beleriand were over.

Most of the Elves fled the destruction of Beleriand and, indeed, fled Middle-Earth itself to Aman, the Blessed Realm.

But the Men -- the Elf-Friends -- the Edain -- who fought valiantly beside the Elves could not go to the Undying Lands, being mortal because of the Gift of Eru Ilúvatar.

So the Valar -- the Lords of the West -- created a land apart for the Edain. They created Andor, the Land of the Gift, called primarily Númenor, "West-land," a massive island located in the middle of the Sundering Seas. Thence went the majority of the Edain, journeying over the sea, led by the Star of Eärendil.

There the Edain established a realm of plenty, led from the beginning by Elros Tar-Minyatur, first King of Númenor, who was a son of Eärendil, who was the son of Tuor and Idril Celebrindal, who was the daughter of Turgon, King of Gondolin and a High King of the Noldor in Middle-Earth.

For the next three thousand years, give or take, the realm of Númenor grew and thrived, becoming great Sea-Kings and achieving the greatest kingdom of Men the world has ever seen, before or since.


But they fell in a great catastrophe of their own making.

But the main issue I had with last game was trying to explain the whole back story and people saying "I don't want to" and "It's a waste of time", as if playing Warz games isn't already a waste of time

It's a fairly intricate plot. It would be a disservice if people ignored it.

I remember you pretty much got murdered for trying to 'swing the village' with all of your actual Tolkein knowledged. It was funny, but I also felt bad when you got booted and you weren't whatever color was bad. The problem was your well intentioned discussion was seen as noise by people that wanted to play more than they wanted to learn the backstory. I'd be more cautious this time around if that makes you feel better.

IIRC, MR25 was of House Feanor and they were trying to win the game by getting all the Silmarils. He was 'ignored' because he was presenting misinformation.
