My S3 is awful in daylight while walking - do both those phones hold up outside in sunlight in terms of brightness?

Re: How many of you own a droid?
I'm thinking of going to Straight Talk because I can't stand paying $110 a month through Verizon considering how little I use my phone. If I do that, I'll be in the market for a new phone too. Looking for something with a bigger screen than the iphone5 I have now. I'm not really obsessed the whole smart phone thing. I want something I can send emails and text on and something with a pretty good camera (for instagram). I don't use it for much else, aside from a flashlight.
Any advice on what to check out in the Droid world? I don't care about "cool".

If you are going to buy the phone at the same time with setting up Straight Talk service then the S3 is still a decent phone.

I don't have any problems with my S3 in sunlight. Is your brightness maxed out? Literally just fifteen minutes ago I was standing in the mid-day sunlight of beautiful Burbank, CA reading emails.

Yeah, you might want to untick "Auto Brightness" if you have trouble reading it outside. I do that from time to time under the aforementioned Carolina blue skies.

For Note 3 it looks great outside at full brightness. Impossible to see when it switches to auto dim at 15% battery though.

Pretty much the same with the Note 4, not sure any cell phone wouldn't unless maxed out but you can see it just fine adjusting the brightness.
Word of warning with the Note 4, looks like some apps aren't optimized for ART yet, killed my wife's battery switching, I think the culprit would be Samsung in house apps not available in the Play store. Switched back to Dalvik for now.

Re: How many of you own a droid?
I tend to agree with the folks at CNET on a lot of things, and they gave the X **** out of five. They said the only real drawbacks were a "minimalist camera, combined with no expandable memory". While I take a lot of pictures with my phone, I do not expect a pocket device to deliver the image quality of my D90, so a not-so-great camera would not be too much of a worry for me. However, not being able to put in an SD card makes the phone almost a non-starter.

I just read about no SD card, how is that possible? , pretty much sells the deal. It's on sale for $50 this weekend only

Re: How many of you own a droid?
I'm using about 12gb on my razr m, so maybe that's not a big deal, also would probably be an upgrade of camera. Is the Galaxy s4 have all the bloatware?

Yes, the S4 is the bloatware phone. The S5 is a good product, tho.

Upon further research with moto x, no SD card, no phone. Is the bloatware a deal breaker for the s4?

I used to think I couldn't live without a large SD card. My One S doesn't have one - I think it has 12 or 16GB of built in memory. Once I started using Plex I quit saving music onto my phone.

Re: How many of you own a droid?
I found an article from March that says AT&T. Our contract is up and I'm wondering if we should switch carriers. VZW is king in this area.
