Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
Turned on Starkey and Mueller for about 30 seconds when I got in the car to leave this afternoon. I guess they have some trivia contest between the two every day now huh? Immediately it was
S: I destroyed in you in that! I just know more about sports than you!
M: Oh really? That's why you have 8 trivia wins total cause you just know more about sports than I do!
and on, and on, and on, and on. Honestly is that all these two do all day is have competitions then spend the next 45 minutes having "Nah nah I beat you! ..NO YOU DIDNT!" arguments? Between the crap with the drafts, this trivia stuff, they're like a guy and a girl on a date at Dave & Busters who fight over whos better at the games but its really just poorly disguised flirting.

Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
They attempted to cover the 20 round shootout this evening. While it started out well and they said they were going to have one of their in-studio hacks watch the entire thing on the air, it quickly drifted away. From what I saw, they covered about the first few rounds (so credit to them for covering that much....I guess) and then moved it to a smaller screen. I thought they were going to keep it running while they covered their usuals, but it quickly disappeared and the previously mentioned hack was shown with feet on the desk. Even just a small, very small screen in the corner showing microscopic players taking their shots in real time would at least give an idea how long that shootout took. They could have cut to Jussi's and Ovi's goals since they started the scoring, or even Orpik's unexpected round 17(?) goal.... meh, I'll save the rest of the rant about ESPN. It's nothing that hasn't been said before.pens9192 wrote:They are called "TMZSPN" for a reason.
They are probably upset that ESPN doesn't really care about the NHL...

Anyone listen to GG's last show today? I didn't. Now there is no more talent left on the Fan.

Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
I'm hoping to find his sign off on the website or something. Shortly after 10 twitter blew up with goodbyes and how genuine it was that he really liked his time in Pittsburgh. Last I got to hear this morning was on my commute, they were doing the top 10 nightly sports calls. I know everyone hates those, and they're worthless more often than not than funny, but some of the ones I remembered from this year I was in my car rolling today. And for some reason I think Gregg is legit funny so it makes me laugh when he cracks up.pens9192 wrote:Anyone listen to GG's last show today? I didn't. Now there is no more talent left on the Fan.

Gianotti to me has seen like someone who actually gave a crap when the local teams lost or weren't doing well. With guys like Poni its so transparent. Maybe GG is just really good and couldn't have given a rats ass either way, he came off like he was really rooting for the local teams. That's gotta be tough to do tho. I can't imagine moving to say, DC and all of the sudden talking Redskins every second of my day and acting coming off like I really am upset if when they lose.
Only regret is I wish one more time he would have done his Vinnie impression singing "Winter Wonderland"

I never minded GG at all. Hell...I even got to chat him up one time outside Pnc Park. He will be missed.

He was nice to me & my wife at an appearance as was Alexander & Colony. Mueller was aloof. Poni ignored. So GG is cool in my book despite his morning zoo tendency, he was auditioning for an NYC job. Good for him.

Although this gentleman is not a gianotti fan (which is completely unrelated to his italian heritage), it seemed like he was genuinely sad to leave. obviously a morning show job in new york is impossible to turn down, but at the same time, it was nice to see him enjoy himself here. it was a nice moment.slappybrown wrote:I caught the end. I've thought for quite a while now that D Jakes is destined for a really, really whacked out sexual escapade that goes public. She always struck me as a barely-in-control party wizard.columbia wrote:Tiki Barber and Dana Jacobson both off the air in one move?

Dunlap was awful this morning. I hate his voice so much. GG was the last real talent left on that station.

Yea, I wasn't a fan. There are times I don't mind listening to Dunlap, but I'm not looking forward to hearing him every morning. Should have given the job to the best host left on the station, Tab Douglas.Malkamaniac wrote:Dunlap was awful this morning. I hate his voice so much. I liked Gianotti since the Fan started. Him and Mueller were my favorites but Mueller has fallen off my list since his move to the afternoon. Sad to see GG go, but it will be better for him.
Dunlap is just ugggggggggh. Crazy a few years ago he was a beat reporter for the PG and now look where he is. One of the luckiest guys around..

Re: The Official LGP Pittsburgh Sport Radio Thread
I'm betting that Josh Miller will begin to say less and less. He adds very little, imo, to begin with and will just get stomped because Dunlap is so much stronger.

Same - I thought he would start in January. I heard him on, listened to his grating voice for 30 seconds and switched it to the Pens station and listened to replay's from last week. I'm that soiled on the guy I would rather listen to a repeat talk show for a game that's 4+ days old.PghSkins wrote:Personally, I started seeking my alternative morning drive entertainment todayLetang Is The Truth wrote:the fact he is 'so bad' yet people still discuss AND listen to him... its working?

This is actually a good topic that hasn't been brought up (in awhile anyway)- Pens Radio has a lot of stale content.Malkamaniac wrote:Same - I thought he would start in January. Maybe it has in PR and I just don't go there enough outside of the GDT to have noticed.

I just don't think they can afford to do a daily show in the morning and at night. I would imagine there isn't enough people to warrant that creation.

So whose calling Madden today to tell him how wrong he was about the Steelers record this year?
