It seems very strange that Lebeau is not sticking around as some sort of senior advisor.

I think he was forced out. I have no way to prove this, but it just seems weird for him to go out the way he did.

Looks like Butler will indeed take over. Guess there were no sons of former scouts that Rooney had to help out this year.

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
May be a dumb question, and I haven't paid one bit of attention, but what happened to Doug Marone. I know he quit the Bills, I thought he was supposed to be the Jets new coach, and then saw they hired someone else today. Did the quit before he had a new job and is now screwed? Or did they want him out of Buffalo so he had nothing to lose?

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
He's collecting $4 million this year from the Bills regardless of his employment status, so I wouldn't say he's screwed, but he's basically a micro-managing, control freak who was unhappy with his level of control in Buffalo so he left. He was assumed to be the frontrunner for the Jets, but they were turned off by him being a micro-managing control freak. It'll be interesting to see where he gets a job. Will probably have to head back to college for a head coaching position.newarenanow wrote:May be a dumb question, and I haven't paid one bit of attention, but what happened to Doug Marone. Marrone or John Fox both seem like people the Bears would hire.slappybrown wrote:He just interviewed with the bears

Wilbon was mumbling something about Fox and the Bears, but he's a name dropping dolt.

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Kiper's first mock draft:
He has Winston first overall to the Bucs and Mariota second to the Titans. Pitt's TJ Clemmings 10th overall to the Rams, and Kevin White (WR) from UWV 15th to the 49ers.22 Kevin Johnson Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5) COLLEGE: Wake Forest Class: Sr HT: 6-0 WT: 175 POS: CB
Analysis: The Steelers are long in the tooth at cornerback and need a player who can help early at that position (not an easy ask) but will get that kind of player if Johnson is still on the board here. Johnson has outstanding instincts and always seems to have a good idea of where the ball is going. He's got slightly above-average length and, while a lean guy, shows fearlessness as a tackler -- he's not shy about playing the run. The Steelers could also look for an edge player here coming off a season during which they had to call on James Harrison, but this is a sensible need pick.

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Just hope they take the best secondary player available. They arguably need a starter for every spot back there.
They are also going to need an outside linebacker and and running back.
Are they going to have money available to fill holes in FA?

Our pass rushing savior has been found.

13 sacks and 8 forced fumbles last season while playing in the great white north.

I have a feeling this is going to explode a bit, primarily locally but some national.

I don't think there's a single person on defense that couldn't be improved upon.Troy Loney wrote:Just hope they take the best secondary player available. They arguably need a starter for every spot back there.

Sure, but the value of improving on Heyward or Timmons is lower than the value of improving the secondary. I'm going to rage when they take another LB.DelPen wrote:I don't think there's a single person on defense that couldn't be improved upon.Troy Loney wrote:Just hope they take the best secondary player available.
