Did we already discuss this?
I'm surprised you rate TMWSTW this high. I'm shocked Diamond Dogs didn't make your Top 10.

Maybe I ought to drink less.
Ah, we "discussed" this on page 201. Nobody cared. Tough crowd.

If I had to pick one it would be Scary Monsters but Lodger is close and really they are all good up to that point.Gaucho wrote:So what's everyone's favorite David Bowie album?

Re: Let's talk about music
Wish You Were Here is Floyd's best album.
Shine on You Crazy Diamond (I-V) is a beautiful arrangement that ends with a descent into madness. Then you are dealt a maddening blow with welcome to the machine and have a cigar; two songs that feel like a bad acid trip. A moment of clarity with the title track and then the refrain.
Genius...

Re: Let's talk about music
I have a varied view on that subject. As a younger teenager, I was only exposed to the PF on the radio and was, well, meh about the whole thing.
And then I discovered the Syd Barrett records. WOW...totally different and completely **** up. It then took me even longer to delve in to the post-Syd/pre-DSOTM era.
This song was the real revelation for me:

Gaucho will appreciate that buying this (as a b-side) led me to the Syd Barrett era....

I had the worst mushroom trip ever while dark side of the moon played on repeat. That was 11years ago and I still can't listen to that album.

Mushrooms are the key to understanding 60s psychedelic poster art (ie it wasn't about LSD). Having said that, NEVER AGAIN for this fellow.

Re: Let's talk about music
If one were to search for "Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett - London 66 - 67 ( Full Rare Version )", they could find some NSFW type of material, which is really quite amazing.
