Now that the Earth has been returned to its axis, I figured it's about time to start this thread up. Nice synopsis on BSD this morning looking at some of the upcoming visits, along with an interview with Will Fries. And I seriously can't wait/hope for Shane Simmons to get to Happy Valley next season.
I was thinking SDSU, but realistically, they have a shot of opening the season 6-0 as you predicted above. Then it's a guaranteed L in Columbus. Maryland, Northwestern and Michigan will be toss-ups. They could easily go 3-0 or 0-3 against them. MSU is also likely an L, so I'm thinking at best 10-2, at worst 6-6
Dont mean to side track, but does PSU have 2 scholarships left for the 2015 class? Any word on if they have any offers out?
certainly not a sidetrack at all. I'd like to hear more. I'm not sure who would be left to pick up if they did, indeed, have 2 more scholarships. Special teams? Diamonds in the rough?
Yeah the only games I'm comfortable predicting losses are OSU and MSU. I don't see them running the table against Michigan, Northwestern, and Maryland so I'll put best case scenario at 9-3, worst at 7-5. I guess 6-6 is possible if Hack struggles but I think he's gonna take a big step forward this year.
If Hack does come out of the gate struggling badly, I wonder if O'Connor or McSorley get a look. I guess there are a lot of factors there, but it's going to be an interesting battle between those two for when Hack leaves, who steps in. I'd say on paper, O'Connor will, but McSorley seems to be one hell of an athlete. They completely different styles.
If the offense and defense don't improve from last year they will be close to .500 again. I am hoping for improvement on the offense, but expect the defense to take a step back as well. I expect 7-5.

I actually came in here to ask if anyone knew where O'Connor ended up transferring to. But yea, he was planning to transfer.
Shocking as it may be, I have never really followed college football intently (or at the same level as others from the board) until Franklin was hired.
So I don't have any membership to those fancy recruiting websites and don't know of the remaining targets PSU has for 2015, but one is Pittsburgh Central Catholic senior safety Johnny Petrishen.
He also rated at 3 stars and the number 18 recruit out of PA. He also has offers from Pitt and Virginia among others and just made his official visit to PSU on the 23rd. Most of the prognosticators from 247 sports have him going to PSU with the lone dissenting vote coming from one of the Pitt insiders.

He cancelled his weekend visit to UVA, so its down to PSU and Pitt.
I'm really into recruiting for some reason this year, maybe b/c of all the "Dominate the State" talk, and I usually check out 247 Penn State and Scout (Fight on State) along with Black Shoe Diaries.
Here's the list of recruits that are confirmed to have received an offer from PSU for the 2015 class: http://pennstate.247sports.com/Season/2 ... all/Offers" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Obviously, alot of recruits are committed elsewhere, but you can filter for 2016 to see who they have offered thus far for 2016. The talk is that Petrishen is going to commit to PSU and then Franklin is probably going to pull somebody from somewhere to for the 25th commitment, just as he did with Christian Campbell (CB) last year.
