Re: General discussion thread
IIRC, the entity that owns the famous Mt. Washington sign/clock is in a dispute with the Pittsburgh zoning officials over proposed upgrades. I think the owner wants to replace it with a huge LED sign, but there is opposition to the plans, so the owner is basically refusing to maintain the existing sign because it wants to replace it instead. So I'm thinking it's not coincidental that the last time I checked, the clock not only hasn't been updated for DST, it's also a further five minutes off.

I wonder how much of that has to do with the lack of sunshine in this area...

How is that information collected? Are they just asking people to rate "life satisfaction"?

Jersey city is on the list so one of the main metrics must be how many people walk into oncoming traffic constantly - presumably to try and get themselves killed.Idoit40fans wrote:How is that information collected? Are they just asking people to rate "life satisfaction"?

Re: General discussion thread
The huge sign mounted on the side of Mt. Washington. It uses neon tubes to display the time and messages. For the last 10 years or so it was sponsored by Bayer.mac5155 wrote:The ATT one near station square, or the scrolling one by heinz field?Shyster wrote:IIRC, the entity that owns the famous Mt. I believe I remember hearing that Bayer no longer wants their name on the clock due to it's increasingly decrepit status but the owners won't let them out of their contract.

Re: General discussion thread
Not sure on brands or anything, but I remember best buy having a good memorial day sale on them last year. only reason I remember is seeing it and thinking "hmmm, when the time comes wait for a sale" I think it was like 25% off or something like that.
