I'm still disappointed that Kraftster allowed the IPA drinkers to radicalize him.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
haha. 2012, even 2013 Kraftster would've supported that comment if he could've peered into the future, but I got there honestly and after many years of fighting the hop herd. I'm an aroma guy first and foremost and it became hard to deny the power of hops in that department after I had some fresh hopped stuff when I visited Portland.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Sierra Nevada narwhal and new Belgium tripel at whole foods.
Liked the narwhal, but man that would kick my... After a few.
The tripel is pretty good. Not the best I've ever had but I like it.
The gentleman next to me is on his 5th sample before getting a beer. If you were the bartender, would that annoy you? I got annoyed just being next to him

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Glad you agree. There's 10 taps on, with like 2 dunkels, 2 pale ales, an ipa (dfh) and a stout.
The second the bartender brought them back he asked for another sample. I got like 2 samples but I waited for him to takes order so I wasn't getting in the way or anything. I also felt less jerk like asking for only 2 (I usually try to stay away from asking for samples and trust my judgement)

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
My "can I try that?" is limited to one. I only ask for out there beers, and typically I ask the bartender what their thoughts are first on the beer, they generally then ask if I want a sample. If I get the sample, and don't like it, I order something that I'm pretty sure I'll like.
5? I'd be so mad.

I don't think I've ever affirmatively asked but have taken a bartender up on an offer of a sample
1 or 2 don't bother me over that you're being a Richard

Yeah that's exactly what I do. I'll ask their thoughts and wait for the offer.count2infinity wrote:My "can I try that?" is limited to one. I don't know if it was because it's whole foods, and to no offense of anyone most of the people at the bar there were "out there"
The bartender seemed to not care but I was almost about to tell "you know what you're going to get, just pick it already"

Dog Fish Head 61. Tastes like a combination of a weak ipa and a weak red wine that smells like a white wine. It's not awful, but not something I would buy again.

I've never heard of that one, I assume you got it bottled?MWB wrote:Dog Fish Head 61. Tastes like a combination of a weak ipa and a weak red wine that smells like a white wine. It's not awful, but not something I would buy again.
I'll know to stay away from it if I see it, because I would have probably bought it otherwise

If I'm curious about a beer, I take out the little computer in my pocket and access a universe of knowledge about it. I think asking for a sample is ok, but it's not for me.
More than 1 and you're being annoying. You could sell me on 2...maybe.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Agreed. The only time I can see myself asking for a sample in that event is if the reviews are decent but not great. That could very easily be a beer I either like or dislike much more than the median.shmenguin wrote:If I'm curious about a beer, I take out the little computer in my pocket and access a universe of knowledge about it. I tried the Dogfish Head 61 minute IPA last night. I have to say that I thought it was a total mess. First drain pour for me in a long time.... I just felt that nothing came together at all. It tasted and felt like someone dumped a berry green tea into a 60 minute IPA and dumped that into seltzer water.

Yeah, it really doesn't come together. And with as much as is going on, it also seems somewhat bland.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
It's going against a classic... I don't blame the voters if it loses. Flower power beating Heady topper is a catastrophe though.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Yeah, I get it, but Chillwave is a step above. I guess Heady is just a distribution issue. I don't think anyone who voted for flower power has had Heady.

That's where I'm at. Never had heady topper but think flower power is an excellent IPA

Wackily, the Shaywer Jig has this in stock. Saw it tonight. $20 for a 4 seemed high.Eismann wrote:Had a Spencer Trappist Ale tonight in Boston. Interesting brewery, pretty good beer, though more hop fruity than my yoozh.
