I remember seeing Molly Hatchet on TV a long time ago (MTV? or something) when my dad walked in the house.
He says, "who's that"? I say, "It's Molly Hatchett dad" and he says, "I don't know which one she is, but dang she'd ugly".

Southern rock never gets the respect it's owed. Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, Blackfoot, Van Zandt just to name some of the best of the genre.
I know, what about Lynyrd Skynyrd.

They were just planning some tour dates and another band he was in was planning a new album, so I'm guessing this was very unexpected.
RIP.

RIP Mr. James Best. Jimmie was a good friend and had some great stories to tell. He will be missed in our Dukes of Hazzard family. Thank you for the memories that you gave even me.
