Re: Official 2016-2017 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
After demolishing KC we really missed Bell but I am convinced Philly is the best team in the NFC, maybe the whole NFL right now. Can they keep it up? Who knows. But I like our odds still in the AFC.

I do too, but am a bit concerned about the high volume of early season injuries. Good to see the Mavens get beat yesterday.DelPen wrote:But I like our odds still in the AFC.

Steelers trying their best to lose today. Should be rolling over Miami and almost losing in the 2nd except for some bad penalties by the Dolphins.

How does this team go all summer and not get a backup better than Jones?

Running them into the ground. 3rd and 1. You decide to put the ball in Jones hands for a pass from under center giving him less time.
I hate Haley.

If they can make the playoffs and Ben can come back Super Bowl is still a possibility. But it's unacceptable to not have a competent QB again this year as backup.

Quick prediction for Sunday. Steelers trudge down the field on 1st drive, eating up 8 minutes of clock, and take a 3-0 lead. World is shocked. CBS is ecstatic as hope of a competitive game is alive. Patriots score next 42 points.

I will be shocked if they have the ball for 8 minutes in the entire first quarter and get 3 points in the first half.

Weren't going to win anyways with Ben. Just use this as a practice to find what Jones or whoever can actually do without screwing up and just use that next game after the bye week vs Baltimore. That's an almost must win to keep division hopes alive.Humperdink wrote:I've already moved past the Patriot game.

I don't hold out much hope, but anything can happen (See: OSU v. PSU), but I view the Patriot game as more of a test for our defense. If we hold our and lose, I can live with that.DelPen wrote:Weren't going to win anyways with Ben. 1. Wait...the steelers wouldn't win even if Ben were in? You're kidding right? They could easily win if Ben was in.DelPen wrote:Weren't going to win anyways with Ben. 2. Find out what Jones has? He's garbage. We know and so do the steelers. They just chose to not care about the position and it's biting them.
The steelers, at home, are still a very good team.

If the score stands this game is all on Haley making horrendous calls knowing what he has to work with. Down 11, ball in their end, 3rd and 2 and you pass. Just horrible play calling.

Way to prep coaches. Jones has no idea what to call in a 2:00 drill and the guy has been here for a couple years and knew he was going to start for the last week.
Yes, Jones isn't very good but Haley put him in a position to fail.

30 seconds left in the game and Jones is throwing his hands up on 4th down because he doesn't know the play call. That pretty much sums up this team's approach to the 2-minute offense.DelPen wrote:Way to prep coaches. Looked like PI against Heyward-Bey where raven got his arm before the ball was there.
And now it looks like he destroyed his knee.

This offensive game plan is garbage. If Ben isn't healthy enough to throw the ball, for the love of god sit him until he is. Bell stutter steps and run up the gut isn't working Tomlin and Haley. Try something else.

The Steelers coaching staff is awful.
I'm tired of always blaming Todd Haley...it's Mike Tomlin. He's the one in charge. What exactly does Tomlin do well? Asking for a friend.

This game is not a pleasant view. Facemask penalties, roughing the kicker, 12 men on the field..... are these new violations that were added this year? If so, our players need to be advised of these new rules.
