Refs have been in playoff mode for at least a couple of weeks.

Scott Hartnell with an egregious boarding (major and a game). The initial reaction from Chris Mason watching the replay? - doesn't look that bad to me. They took the guy off on a stretcher.

He should be suspended until next season. But I'm sure he won't get more than a game or two, if that.

For those who missed it, Boston tied the game with four seconds left and then Philly won in OT.Skatingpen wrote:Wow what a game in Philly against Boston
The Flyers finish with three non-playoff teams. Have to think they'll face the loser of Thursday's Pens-CBJ game in the first round.

I've seen no mention of a hearing on NHL.com. He's not playing today.Durbano wrote:He should be suspended until next season. But I'm sure he won't get more than a game or two, if that.

Marchand fined again, this time for cross checking a player in the visor. This guy just doesn't get it and probably is never going to.

Re: The Hartnell hit:
Buffalo Coach Phil Housely: "I do know that our player was taken off on a stretcher, has a broken nose, facial lacerations and missing teeth," Housley said in Air Canada Centre. "So in that respect, I strongly disagree with the NHL decision. It's unfortunate for Victor because I thought he had a solid game and I don't believe he'll be playing the rest of the year. We feel for him ... I just felt with that situation, it wasn't handled the right way."

Why NHL discipline remains a farce.

Re: Other NHL Games
You mean the Flyers would likely face the winner of the Pens-CBJ match, right?? With the loser of that game most likely slotting into the WC1 slot to face Washington?Durbano wrote:

CBJ has Detroit, Pens and Nashville remaining.
Philly has Rangers, NYI and Carolina left.
NJ has Toronto, Washington and NYR left.
I would favor a PGH/Philly first round match over any option, and would love to see Washington lose to CBJ in round 1.

Don't even know what I meant. I probably should step away from the keyboard until the match-ups are set.

Re: Other NHL Games
PK pushes a guy to the ice and sits on him. Puts his arms out while sitting on him with the guy trying to stand up. No call. I'm not surprised that Sid gave PK a mild version of the business, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often and with more force.
Almost simultaneously, Bonino wraps his arm over a guy's shoulder and puts his stick across the guy's chest then complains all the way to box because the guy put his arm over Bonino's stick. Who wouldn't do that that and how often is that called?...almost never.
Of course, the Preds' announcers thought it should have been evened up.

Re: Other NHL Games
Columbus has gotten five points in recent games when it looked as if they'd get zero. Trailed 3-0 at Edmonton, won in regulation. Trailed by two or three at Vancouver, lost in OT. And then this mess tonight.
So, I haven't stepped away from the keyboard. I *think* if the Pens win on Thursday, they are guaranteed to finish ahead of both CBJ and the Flyers. Pens will have the tiebreaker against both teams.

If the Pens beat the CBJ in regulation, they assure themselves of staying in front of both the Jackets and Flyers. But the Devils can pass them if the Pens fail to get three points in their final two games.Durbano wrote:Columbus has gotten five points in recent games when it looked as if they'd get zero. I am most interested in watching the Craps v. BJ's. The BJ's tanked in their last game to avoid us. This should be a highly entertaining series.
