It honestly would make some sense for the Oil to go after Hoffman. They need speed on the wing and someone who can score. McDavid is quick and the last couple deals the Chirelli has done has slowed the team down and reduced their skill level. Deal him for Hugent-Hopkins. RNH won't play to full potential as a 3C in my opinion and the Sens get a decent 1-2 punch down the middle.

Hoffman should fetch quite a rerurn. He'd look good on Sid's wing. Ain't happening though.

Trades and signings are my favorite part of hockey. I have always leaned towards the team/management side with my views so I guess I like to consider and analyse the moves that teams make in order to try to see where they are coming from and what the are thinking.

Per Friedman yesterday and Dreger today, OEL has reached a verbal agreement for 8 years, $8 million + with the Coyotes. The numbers came from Dreger. Congrats to OEL and the Coyotes. I'm thinking he could've gotten $9 million plus elsewhere.

Ha. Budaj will be 3rd string after the year he had. They say Campbell? is the backup.
And there's a video on hfboards where Andreoff gets clocked by Bieska.

Bob McKenzieLike a lot of teams, no doubt, if John Tavares gets to the UFA shopping period, and it is still an “if” at this point, TOR is believed to be putting together a promotional video for JT that may even include a cameo pitch or two from some current Leaf players.

If the pens want a shot at Tavares have the pens send him Pittsburgh's Amazon bid video.

"Trotz made $1.5 million per year on his four-year contract, signed in 2014. The deal was originally believed to expire July 1, but MacLellan confirmed reports that it included a clause, previously undisclosed to the public, that awarded Trotz a two-year extension with a pay raise if the Capitals won the Cup during his tenure.
The raise, however, did not match Trotz‘ expectations.
Reports indicated the increase would have given Trotz a modest salary bump, just shy of $2 million per year. But the three highest-paid NHL head coaches earn $5 million or more annually. Mike Babcock of the Toronto Maple Leafs owns the largest salary at an average value of $6.25 million.
MacLellan said the length of the contract was also “a sticking point” in the negotiations.
“I thought we’d be able to work out a shorter-term deal to make both sides happy,” MacLellan said."
Apparently not. LOL.

Trotz will get paid elsewhere handsomely and it's probably a 99% chance Rierden is new HC. Don't know if the Caps handled this one in any way except very clumsily. Oh well, probably due to their lack of experience in how to handle being a Cup winner
Looks like the sides were chosen in Ottawa and it definitely wasn't the Hoffman duo. I wonder if this had been brewing for longer because he definitely was being shopped last season.
