Let's get some shots on goal! 3rd and 4th lines with solid periods I thought.

Goal! Ric Rak with the blast from the right circle on a nice pass from Sid The Grey. 1-0 Pens.

Great release by Rakell. Smart player, finds the open lane.Three Stars wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 8:20 pmGoal! Ric Rak with the blast from the right circle on a nice pass from Sid The Grey. 1-0 Pens.

Don't think we'll be seeing DOC in any shootouts

Bourquie with the kind of backhanded complement for DOC: “If the hands could catch up with the feet, he’d be dangerous”.

Bad goal late in a period, we are in mid-season form

No way they call that in a regular season game. He didn't look like he even played it below the line. Agreed, silly rule anyway.

Goal! 5th time’s the charm for DOC. Lars Eller did some hard work.

DOC has been dancing all night. 3rd line has looked solid. Eller is a heady player.

I was just going to post I’ll take him shooting and just missing now since his timing will come around in the next few weeks but it took a few seconds instead.Three Stars wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 9:07 pmGoal! 5th time’s the charm for DOC. Lars Eller did some hard work.

He’s quicker than I anticipated, too.KG wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 9:07 pmDOC has been dancing all night. 3rd line has looked solid. Eller is a heady player.

I haven’t seen 12 forwards better than Zohorna tonight. I’d even argue Puustinen and Poulin have looked better than several players too.

The team looked like a patchwork quilt for much of the evening. There are some nice pieces that have to learn how to fit together.DelPen wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 9:16 pmI haven’t seen 12 forwards better than Zohorna tonight. I like Zohorna too, but he was literally nothing special last year for two different organizations. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Re: GDT - Pens vs Sabres.
Having Eller and Acciari out there to help protect the lead is huge for this team. Two very smart players who do the little things that protects leads and win games.
This team should not blow nearly as many leads as they did last season!
Eller is Sullivan's new Bonino in my opinion. A defense first center that the coach can trust in all situations.

Re: GDT - Pens vs Sabres.
It was refreshing to see some speed out there for the first time in a couple of years.
EK showed a few of his patented out-of-freaking-nowhere passes. He also showed a few of his patented what-are-you-thinking pinches. All I can say is that he’s better not lose his catch up speed.
It’s not a rational or analytical thing, but I’m kind of glad that they’re having to put in work to get the team to fully function. This is the kind of team that gets complacent after 8-0 wins and then we see what happens when the process is ignored. Take the time to get it right. Process over results.

If Eller and DOC can get something going, that bodes well for the season. I was more impressed with Lars Eller than I thought I would be.KG wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 9:30 pmHaving Eller and Acciari out there to help protect the lead is huge for this team. Re: GDT - Pens vs Sabres.
Minor Mears quibble: Call him Karlsson, or EK, or Erik. Don’t call him EK65 all the freaking time. Crosby is not SC87. Malkin is not EM71. Save it for truly great moments, not random dump-ins.
I’m still salty about the massive overuse of THE BROCKSTAR nicknames for players, so I’m not the most objective source of criticism on this, but still.

Re: GDT - Pens vs Sabres.
If you like your team criticism pointed and direct, Karlsson has you covered with his assessment of the power play. “Botched”.
https://dkpittsburghsports.com/2023/09/ ... season-tlh"The first power play we had, that was botched," said Karlsson. "The short second one, you could tell that we were a little more comfortable. Whoever was carrying the puck was carrying the puck with pace, and other guys were just filling spots. We got in OK and moved around pretty good. I think overall, those things are going to get more dialed in as we move forward here."
